Honestly as much as I love my tube power amp if I was starting again I’d have solid state phono stage and power amp but a tube pre amp. Or a solid state phono with a hybrid like the PL Evo 300 hybrid integrated with the tubes in the pre stage. That’s where i feel they have the biggest impact.

I mean more integrated that are hybrid have a few of the little fellas in the pre stage and are solid stage in the power….

Power tubes are infuriating and brilliant in equal measures. Preamp tubes are much more reliable and add that big of magic to a solid state power stage.

That’s all fair enough! I’d still love for you to listen to tubes, even if just preamp ones with a solid state power stage, especially if you’re looking at high efficiency speaker down the line.

Same. The 12 is very nice looking, with the grill on I don’t like the grill off, and as an old school Tannoy fanboy I’m guessing that I’ll adore how they sound.
