Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Since Storf has hinted that Stax is AMP #4 and he has shown photo evidence of it in his Instagram feed, I wonder if another staff member is curating AMP#3 which would be interesting development. Of Stax, Motown and Blue Note I feel the it has been too singular of a curation voice.
 
My fear is that the Anthology model, as much as I like the choices so far, will be too restrictive in theme and mostly be labels. I'm sure it is much more difficult (but not impossible) to put together a box set of albums with different rights holders. Wouldnt be an issue with more track subscriptions.

While i like all three of those anthologies, I agree with you. I may be in for the Stax Anthology, but I’d like to see a bit more variety.
 
Hi guys, me again.. back to beg for stuff... I'm close to finishing my AntHorOgy pet project but I'm hoping I might be able to upgrade one item. I've got a Dexter but it's got that side 2 scratch on it that many of these seemed to have... do any of you happen to have an extra improperly labeled Dexter disc lying around? One without a scratch? I only need the disc... Just thought I'd check.

If you need me I'll be in this darkened corner over here just generally grovelling and being filthy...

Anyone else get that email from VMP trying to sell Blue Note's box series? I don't know why that rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't even offering a discount or anything, just trying to peddle BN's product... Why is VMP sending that out?

Honestly if they had offered some kind of break on the price, I might've gone for it. Instead I just felt a little gross.
 
I got it and it didn't bother me. It's cross-promotion. I wonder if Blue Note subscribers got an email about the Anthology when it was coming out. I'm sure that was part of the partnership they created for the first Anthology. It also could be for those who really enjoyed the Blue Note Anthology and were wanting more. Personally, I've been buying more Blue Notes on the regular after the Anthology. $200 for 2LPs is way too rich for my blood but if I wasn't as selective, I'd probably be in for the Blue Note Review. Instead, I'll spend the equivalent of that amount on Tone Poets and 80th anniversary albums.

I'm also on Acoustic Sounds email list and they sent me an email about the Motown Anthology. It pointed you to the VMP site.

I mean, I get it. I cross promote other authors sometimes, just part of the game. I don't know why I felt a little odd about the way they sent that though. Probably means they're working on more BN releases in the future though which I am very okay with.

I got it, it didn't bother me. Maybe that's because I wanted the Blue Note Review boxset and so I ended up purchasing it.
I just need more Art Blakey and Lee Morgan... what can I say
