Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks are closing this week through the end of the month.

Despite the entire county school system shutting down the rest of the month and despite the University I work for moving all classes to online and closing most of campus (including moving students out of the dorms), we are still open. I work for one of the two childcare facilities owned by the university (they don't pay us - we get paid by the tuition the parents pay, but we still follow every decision the university does). This is not good. It's not a good look for the university, and it scares the shit out of me with how fast illnesses spread at my work already. I know children of a young age are not at a high risk, but that doesn't mean they can't carry it into our center and spread it among the staff. We already had a sickness spread through our classroom this week, knocking out four children today all because a parent chose to bring their child in the other day even though they knew they were sick. The city is likely on the verge of shutting most things down. Already venues are following the schools and closing completely. I suspect tourist attractions like museums and the aquarium will be next (probably tomorrow). I hope the university does the right thing and close us down too. Thing is, we're often neglected. We aren't located on campus, so much of the rules we have to follow don't really apply to us. It's like we exist in a weird gray area. The staff/faculty that are still being told to work don't interact with the public like we do, and they can do pretty much all of their work from home. We can't. We should be protected too. The university also told us that all of our student workers can't work during the rest of the month, which wrecks every classroom's schedule considerably. It's a mess.

I have my honeymoon flights and hotels booked to Bora Bora on 4/8. Don’t even wana tell you the cost on that trip

Freaking out about it for sure. Whatever happens will happen.

Hang in there, everyone!

Check your travel insurance covers it, if not buy some cover that does.

Everything from kindergarten to high-schools are closed in France.

People are asked to stay at home, avoid contact with older people and wash their hands every hour or so. Next step government will ask people to use the turn signal when they drive. Strong decisions are being taken in France. Oh, I forgot to say that there are elections next two Sundays but these are not cancelled.

You mean you don’t use your indicators every time you turn a corner? I’m utterly shocked! You french are a bunch of anarchists 😂

Seriously though, we’re in the same boat, everything shut down from today, Dublin is eerily quiet. Still in work here as there is no possibility of doing my work from home but we’re seriously depleted with all the parents out.

I think at this stage it’s all about being sensible, not panicking and good hygiene. oh and looking after your elderly friends and relatives, even if that means having to avoid them!

How have they not cancelled Cannes yet?

Bet they don’t indicate when exiting roundabouts either...

You know it’s serious when an Old Firm game gets cancelled. Working from home as much as possible here, and we’ll see what happens. I’m at a wedding at the weekend, and after that I’ll try and bunker down.

Stay safe all!

While there is no statewide closure of schools yet in MA watching the news broadcast school after school is scrolling across the bottom of the screen as closed like after a blizzard.

One other thing I heard is that if anyone has any travel plans to Puerto Rico use caution. The reason they have zero cases of coronavirus reported is because they still don't have access to to the test kits the US is producing. Experts say Coronavirus is in the general public in Puerto Rico.

Well, daughter 1 has had her classes and campus shut down along with Spring Break being extended, for now, at Ohio State. Daughter 2 is on the verge of classes being canceled, I can feel it coming, they'll be on Spring Break starting the 23rd, and they've been sending out online class information.

My wife's uncle passed away last week, and now only immediate family is attending since some came from out of town.

My office is in a state of paranoia, but the powers that be won't pull the trigger, because that's just how they are.

My wife goes to work at her hospital everyday and I sit and try and think of only "Happy Thoughts" while she's there. Some woman had and MRI scheduled (My wifes a tech), she called in to confirm here appointment and to let them know she needs to be anesthetized cause she can't handle the tube, while they had her on the phone they re-screened her since her appointment was set up over a month ago, one of the standard questions is now 'Have you traveled out of the country, where, how, cruise" etc. The woman tells them she just got back from a cruise.......so if she hadn't called in to make sure her notes about being put our were there, she would have just walked into the hospital and my wife would have scanned her.

A bit of a rant, but I gotta be honest, the thing that's pissing me off are the people who think there is nothing to worry about, which is fine, if your not worried and you think this is all BS, fantastic, but if your actions MAY put someone else in harms way, that's bullshit..........if I can respect your choice to not give a shit, you should respect the choices of those who have concerns.

Most of germany will start closing down schools and childcare on monday. Also berlin will drastically reduce public transport

I still think it's really stupid that schools are closed but you can keep using public transport. I am ok with keeping transport working for people working in hospitals, etc... but the others should stay at home when possible. It's ridiculous.

I believe it will be cancelled. They just announced that all events with more than 100 people will be cancelled.

In the Moment it looks like berlin will keep the subways going but stop all bus lines

IL has made the same kind of statements and I just don't understand them.

I suspect it may have to do with upcoming spring break, 3 weeks away. They would want the quarantine to happen over spring break to minimize the financial impact on the district. They have been in touch with health officials, probably. And the line is school is the safest place to be.

Everything is working here and they say that public transport must work to take nurses and doctors to the hospitals... I mean, you can shut off the transport and send taxis to the people who works in hospitals. It won't cost more.
