Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Apparently, in the relief bill the house passed last night, as a result of the bipartisan negotiations, the sick leave requirement doesn't apply to companies over 500 employees. Companies with under 50 employees are able to apply for hardship exemptions. So, it doesn't necessarily apply to the majority of workers.

I guess Pelosi's statement of "stay home, you won't miss a check" was bullshit.

I have no idea. My guess is probably not automatically but if you call and complain maybe.

I looked around on their website for some form of "chat with support" option, but all they have is wait for a call back.

I'll wait and see the bill....then complain.

They had to compromise with the republicans and Trump administration to ensure the bill passes.

Guaranteed sick leave is not something that side of the aisle is in favor of. It's socialist in nature.

It sucks they exempted businesses over 500 employees. This basically says we want to protect the large corporations and public companies from having to pay out leave so shareholders can continue to make their profits.

I think they tried to get more from what I’ve read but ultimately acquiesced as they felt expediency was of the most importance. Hopefully this isn’t the end of Government support but the first step.

I understand why it ended up that way, I just don't think Pelosi should have made that statement instead of telling it like it is.

Yes, hopefully this is the first step and more help will come for the people who can't miss a paycheck.

I suppose the bill doesn't address the problem at all that most people who do get sick leave don't have two weeks saved up anyway.

I wish they would just send every taxpayer a $2,000 check. Call it a Trump MAGA Freedom Cash if they’d like.

Pretty much confined at home over here too. Daughter's school is closed for at least 2 weeks. Luckily I can work at home and expected this to happen so I took a bunch of stuff home on thursday.

Everything unraveled so fast on thursday and friday. Hopefully is was quick enough to slow things down.

I wish everyone and their families the best everywhere.

It's pathetic.

I just booked my Dublin flights last week. I'll never hear the BOTT one-step at this rate!

Theres always hope things will be better by the time you are due to come over here! When had you the flights planned for? The airlines are being very good about rescheduling right now, even the budget ones are doing it here now. Plus that record isn’t going anywhere, it’ll be wait for you haha!

May 21st to May 28th on Aer Lingus. Definitely hoping things are better by then!

Aer Lingus are being sound of the worst comes to the worst. A lady I work with was due in New York this week for Paddy’s day and the switched her flight to October with no fees, you just have to cover any fare difference.
