Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Here in Colorado - yesterday the governor ordered schools closed until at least April 14, and banned gatherings of over 10 people.

The little kids on my block (7-8 different households) have been playing together all day for the past three days - and not in a "socially distant" way - hugging, high-fiving, and congregating around the community mailbox. Apparently there were plenty of kids at the local playground, as well, all over the slides and equipment.

Just finished my 3 night shifts (I guess I wasn't sick after all)...

Some things...

They have us bagging masks to re-use up to 5 times. Re-using gowns is probably next.

We had 1 confirmed positive on our floor last week. A couple fellow CNA's that had to go into the room got calls to monitor their temps and report if they start getting symptoms.

They now made another unit the "Covid Unit" - they have 10-18 "rule outs" at a time...but not sure if any are really getting tested. Or they don't test for Covid if they test postitve for Influenza or any other Respiratory Virus. - No one has said they can't also have Covid.

Since we still aren't testing everyone, patients w/out symptoms could still be spreading it to everyone.

And then there is this from the CDC...

In settings where facemasks are not available, HCP might use homemade masks (e.g., bandana, scarf) for care of patients with COVID-19 as a last resort.

If? There's already a shortage. People are dying from the shortage in Italy and he still says it is overblown. Such an ass. At least he isn't calling doctors on the front lines pedos yet.

Know what's even more maddening? Trump signed an order for more ventilations to be produced, but has yet to invoke it. Why are we waiting? Ventilators take time to produce.

.....and the blame falls squarely on the parents

I hear the walk-in closet is really nice this time of year. Lots of different shoes and shirts to see. Can be entertaining to make discoveries of forgotten apparel you could even wear on the spot!

Also, taking the lady to the balcony for an evening stroll is very romantic. Bring a baguette, a camembert, a nice chardonnay or a pinot noir (or a can of tuna, some crackers and bottled water if that's what you have).

Torn between unfollowing this thread because it's a sap on my mental health, but wanting to check it constantly to stay informed.

I know what you mean... lots of negativity all around (though things are very serious). At the same time, it's nice to communicate a little when you're in isolation. And have a few lighter moments here and there, despite the gravity.
