Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

To be fair, everyone has been saying this ever since they first raised prices (myself included). They haven’t gone under…yet. I think things will drastically be changed though if they do make it through.

Definitely wouldn’t sign up for a long term deal and not really sure why anybody would at this point. I gotta figure out how to use the last of my member credit…
Sure, we all know the litany of things on VMP's scorecard of fuckups.

Lawsuits, price hikes, shipping delays, quality control, fire sale of existing stock, nuking international subs, canceling Country and Rock tracks, shrinking customer support...on and on and on. I wasn't claiming to be the Nostradamus of VMP's demise or that this is a new revelation. I was just providing my commentary on the latest comms from them. It just seems like this is getting closer to the end.

"Reimaging the ROTM experience" by not announcing upcoming releases sounds like a bunch of marketing bullshit to me.

I haven't followed VMP in awhile but I'm interested in Neon Indian and Broadcast. Are there any current deals on membership? Or should I just wait until they do some kind of non-member sale?
Still a referral deal if you want one 😉

sounds to me that the three month heads up isn’t working for them so they won’t do 3 months at a time. They do also have the hints for the next 3 months in all 3 tracks in the magazine…I’d bet they go back to album announcement when swaps open up.

Agree it’s stupid marketing bullshit writing though.

Which thread was that in? I missed it.

What's Spinning:

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms

I forgot to take a picture until I took it off, but do not waste your money on VMP anymore. This is a cheap piece of crap. The gatefold is made of the cheapest quality material. The disc is a bowl and while the colors look good on it, you can get the wide release for $15 on Amazon pre-order. If it wasn't already my last month I would have cancelled after getting this crap from them, even more so at the insane premium price. I'd be absolutely shocked if they can keep any of the remaining subscribers except for those who only buy to collect after openly embracing such shoddy quality.

Wonder if something fell through or if someone is holding up a shipment for money that they don't have.

There is a post on the discord at the minute with someone welcoming the return to ‘their roots as “the best damn record club” in the zine message from Matt.’ It seems so deludedly optimistic I thought it was a rib. I agree the 1 month announcement seems a(nother) bad sign. So much so I cancelled the preorders I had.

Was just coming to post this. Feels like the wheels have already come off and it's just skidding from the momentum of members finishing out their subs. Plus hilarious discount code.

I suppose having $40 to spend on absolutely any record you fancy in that price bracket because your previous record club subscription service has gone bust can definitely be classed as an experience that’s flexible, personal and full of discovery

The ROTM change is such a bearish indicator, especially because it hadn’t been teased at all. I sort of thought they’d figure something out, get over the cash flow hump, and transform. Maybe not into something I liked, but into something nonetheless.

And that’s such a bummer because I forgot how much I liked Broadcast! It’s a legit shame because personally that shows the appeal they’ve had for me for years.

Except that they just did away with two tracks recently to focus on what they do best through tighter curation. Something’s not right over there.

They didn’t tease getting rid of two tracks or international subs either.

We’ll find out soon enough (or won’t). But they have a guess me please in the new magazine for the next 3 months with hints, plus other clues in the magazine. Maybe that’s all thrown out the window—that wouldn’t shock me.
