A Road Well Traveled…My System Journey…Completed?

December 2024-

Went a bit wild and broke down the entire system. Out went the M700u, D-03x, XP-15, MoFi FenderDeck and Evo 300 preamp. In came a PL Evo 400 Integrated, a Vinyl Nirvana Thorens TD-160B w/SME 3009 S2 Improved tonearm, a Sutherland 20/20 MKII w/LPS. On the digital side I tried a Luxman DA-06 and an Eversolo DMP8 before settling on a Marantz SACD 30n.

Unfortunately, the EVO 400 had a bias issue with one of the sockets and it had to be sent back to TMR for service. While TMR was great, the process of having to repack and ship that thing across the country, then have to have it sent back once repaired, freaked me out. I brought in a Marantz Model 30 Integrated to give a run and have really enjoyed it.

Sure do! I now have my old speakers and new speakers hooked up to the amp.

While the 30n is really great, and it reminded me of the L550axII, it’s not quite there. I had a nice credit at TMR for the Evo 400, and they gave me a great credit for the 20/20 so I made what I am confident will be the last system change in my audio journey.

A Luxman L590axII is on the way and I’m really stoked about it. Turntable, Sacd, Integrated and done.

The only thing that kept me from
buying that first Luxman was the Class A heat load. In my small office, it would have been like adding a space heater! Congrats on coming back to the Luxman fold!

The onboard on the L590. I really liked the one on the L550 so I assume I’ll be just fine with the one on the 590.
