Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Hopefully those early albums (assuming Mary Wells and possibly 2. The Marvlettes- Please, Mr Postman) are in mono for all of y’all. Looking at Discogs, those real early Motown records go for a pretty penny.

1. The first LP by a solo woman in Motown History:
Mary Wells - Bye Bye Baby / I Don't Want To Take A Chance

2. An LP recorded in a single night to capitalize on the title track racing up the charts:
The Marvelletes – Please Mr. Postman?

3. The first mega smash LP at Motown, it was on the charts for more than a year.
Is the Supremes- Where Did Our Love Go

4. Was the only solo LP the artist ever got to make.
Tammi Terrell - Irrisistable

5. Features a Stevie Wonder co-writer covering the Beatles using a talkbox.
Syreeta - Stevie Wonder presents Syreeta?

6. By one of the stars of the '20 Feet from Stardom' documentary, a backup singer whose solo LPs are hidden gems.
Tata Vega – Full Speed Ahead or Totally Tata or Try All My Love or Givin’ All My Love

7. Completely self-written and self-produced, a rarity for Motown.
Teena Marie- It Must Be Magic

8. Written after a period of writer's block, it's her most underrated LP.
Erykah Badu - Worldwide Underground

What do I win?
what percentage of those are easy to buy in good quality for cheap (also i think its self titled for number 5). and one isn't even really an album people liked

I think you’re right on at least 7. I think number 6 could be a couple albums. I threw out Gloria Jones’s only Motown album, Share My Love. She sang back up for T Rex and was heavily involved with Marc Bolan. She was actually, unfortunately, the person driving the car that tragically killed him. The album is quite good though, and she’s got a hell of a voice. Probably best known for recording “Tainted Love”.

The Erykah Badu album is definitely not an all analog record. VMP should be clear about that.

Can someone be the savior and post the answer to this? Between T-Cell's guess list, and seeing the payment plan option....Things are stirring in me.

That’ll get you to $200 pretty quick but I think the other five will probably cost you at the very most $80. Looks like you aren’t getting under budget regardless.
