  • I've never really gotten into Floating Points before. Add Pharoha Sanders and the London Symphony to the mix and apparently I'm sold though!

I want to wait for the vinyl to come, but Rough Trade delayed it till the 15th stateside. I may have to just listen based on how much positive reception it is getting!

Album of the year for me. Absolutely transported me. Was really bittersweet as well as I realized given Pharoah’s age, this very well may be the last time we hear him playing on an album. The album almost plays out like a rightfully cosmic send off for him, hit me hard :/

i found it pretty mediocre (i found it a bit too slow and didn't have the dynamic range and fluidity it seemed like it kinda needed, to the point that when any real emotional power came in movement 5 i just wish we had more).. but i know it is not for me and there is clearly a lot to like if you can enjoy this kind of third stream
I've been doing a trial of Apple Music to see if I want to make the switch from Spotify fully. I get a lot of stutters and cut outs streaming via bluetooth, even when tracks are downloaded. I can play the same tracks on Spotify with no issue. Anyone ever run into this?

I’ve been a subscriber for years and the only time I’ve had cutouts is when my phone is too far away from my speaker.

I'm on an iphone and very close to my headphones. Honestly, uninstalling and reinstalling the app seems to have resolved it. I haven't had one issue since. Hopefully that's all it was!
Stumbled across The Soft Pink Truth's "Shall We Go On Sinning So That Grace May Increase" this morning and it was a perfect Monday morning chill.
I am a winner of the Mordechai Listening Party - US Contest. Not sure how exclusive this was, as I don't tend to win anything ever.
I'm frequently the first (or second) in line to pile on VMP's many fallacies, but I'll be damned if their latest Anthology announcement hasn't led me to be having quite a pleasant, sunny, post-holiday weekend Tuesday afternoon with the Grateful Dead's Reckoning for the first time.

The announcement (along with me recently listening to more 70’s rock lately) lead me to finally take the dive into the Dead. Picked up a few of their albums and the Day of the Dead box set and came out a few hundred bucks better than if I had bought the box.
Is it just me or does this new Hamilton Leithauser kind of suck compared to the last one?

This is kinda my fear, it was my fear about Vampire Weekend too if I am being honest. Rostam is a pop savant like few others, he brings out the absolute best on whoever he colaborates with, I think the fact that he left VW is one of the reasons it took them so long to follow up MVITC, Ezra is a talent dude too but Rostam is absolutely brillant at writing a pop tunes.

I agree Rostam has the midas touch...look at Clairo's debut album which he produced last year as an example

The new Waxahatchee album is precisely what the world needs today.
6 days since I had a COVID-19 test done, and still no results. My PCP contacted the Maine CDC lab today and was informed that they are backlogged by 1300 tests and I am on the "low priority list" and it might be another week or two before they get to it. So, don't buy into the figures at this point, folks. They may be INCREDIBLY old.
I was feeling pretty bad over the state of the world, but then I get an email from VMP. Knowing that they are on top of things made me feel a lot better about life in the pandemic age

They said "we know that in times of social hardship, fear or confusion, music has the power to soothe, calm and quiet". That ain't curation. I want the hardcore, the punk, the noise... and that ain't a VMP aesthetic.

I would say I've been firmly in the "taking this more seriously than most" camp from the outset in China, but I am over hearing from every business I have ever interacted with in my online life. Great, your washing more and working from home. I'm glad to hear it. I also don't REALLY need this information.
This new Caroline Rose is great! It's not "record club claiming it ESSENTIAL" good, I mean, it's not even in the running for best of 2020 2 months in, but it is REALLY good.

It's decent and not a bad pick for an album of the month. ( The term Essential is just goofy ) I swapped it because I wasn't passing on Pinata and needed Soul Makossa before it sold out, but I plan on grabbing Caroline later down the road.
