MoFi UltraDeck / StudioDeck Owners and those interested

I was having the same problem and switched to the "G-Series" cushions. They were like $40 or $50 bucks, but made a world of difference with my 325s. I've always wanted to try the Sennheisers HD6xx though. If I was still in the market, I'd probably try those next.

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

The SL is a significant upgrade over the UltraTracker. I have no experience with the ML, but it's pedigree and popularity make it a great choice if money is not a problem. When I purchased my SL (Mk1), the ML was out of my budget, but I still don't feel as if I settled for a lesser cartridge. It...

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

At equal volumes, cold water is denser and heavier than warm water. Ponder with that in mind.

Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

When I saw that, it was the closest I ever got to blocking someone just for asking a question.

My first-run Ultradeck is still going strong. I haven't had any problems with it and still consider it a great purchase. I've dealt with technical support twice over a couple of self-inflicted issues a few years ago and they helped me out pretty quickly. Value-wise, if a were in the market for...

Gotta warp, these members can help. [Vinyl Flat]

I forgot to report this info...so it's a bit stale, but I had an opportunity to use my Record Pi on a UHQR Gaucho disc 1 last month. It had a mild warp that was causing my tone arm to rise about 1/8" in the outer area of the record. For those 4 people on here that don't know, UHQR vinyl is a...

The Darlington Labs thread (New 2024 models!)

Going strictly by my experience with Darlington Labs on several occasions, I can assure you, @MattHasIdeas, that your problem will be resolved well beyond your satisfaction. Dealing with Keith is one of those rare customer/vendor experiences that larger companies can only dream about. I'm not...

MoFi UltraDeck / StudioDeck Owners and those interested

Currently Darlington Labs MP8B and SU-7 which tend to mitigate surface noise, but I've had other offerings in the chain and never ran into hot surface noise issues or static. Seriously sorry to hear about your troubles, but if you get them cleared it up, you're going to love the results. My...

    Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

Ironically, I've cured weird sq issues with HDMI, digital and analog by switching out expensive interconnects with generic Monoprice offerings. You're absolutely right about EM interference.

    Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

I've never had to run down a ground hum and my shelving space is pretty cluttered with wires. That being said, I've always run a "star" ground off of the phono amp. Turntable, preamp and head amp all run to grounding nut on the phono amp.

I currently have the same cart on the same turntable and I get nothing like what you describe. Wish I could be more help, but I can at least assure you that there's nothing wrong with that particular combination.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I wouldn't even try, but if you're desparate, Neil Antin, "pacvr", might be able to help. I see him on SH forums and Audiogon all the time. He's pretty much a guru when it comes to vinyl cleaning chemicals. He's very approachable so pop on over and hit him up. No Himalayan mountain climbing...

Record cleaning - what's your method?

Just start saving for a KLAudio ultrasonic cleaner. Then when you get about halfway there, settle for the well-respected Degritter. You'll feel like you've made a prudent and frugal purchase. Perspective's a beautiful thing.

The Darlington Labs thread (New 2024 models!)

From Darlington Labs F.A.Q. How is your mono switch configured electrically? Our mono switch places the positive inputs from the cartridge in direct parallel (this parallel junction is accomplished in series with a 1 ohm resistor intended to damp any possible parasitic effects in the input...

MoFi UltraDeck / StudioDeck Owners and those interested

I own an Ultradeck and DLabs MP-7, (upgraded from MM-6). I doubt that you would be disappointed with that combination. I've also heard great things about several <$1000 phono amps including the Ultraphono and Schiit Mani (II). My money would be on the MM-6, but I honestly don't think you would...
