I agree that they are more powerful than advertised. But in my 10 x 10 room, with the high efficiency Fortes, I most likely rarely got close to using all the 20w of Class A power.
Absolutely. But I have no experience listening to them on a high powered Class A/B. I did use my Heresy III’s initially with a Yamaha Class AB 100wpc, then a PrimaLuna Integrated, then the Luxman. Each step was a significant improvement to my ears.
The 590 is 30w Class A with another 70+ in reserve Class A/B. The L550 is either 20 or 25w Class A with A/B reserve. I can’t remember which one. Neither the 550 in my old room, or the 590 in the new larger room, have had any issue driving my Harbeth C7’s.

Luxman L590axII arrived today. I’ve had it running for a few hours now and it’s all I thought it would be. Happy day.
I had them in a 10’ x 10’ x 8’(ceiling) room and have chased the sound since I let them go. Mine were Forte III’s, but same principle. I have no doubt they would have liked more space, but they sounded absolutely amazing in my room.
My current Thorens, with the SME arm and Shure V15 III, competes very well with both MoFi tables I owned. The MoFis are more quiet as far as background noise and present in a more relaxed manner. I think the Thorens has a more lively and engaging sound while also presenting bass in a tighter...
