Late to the party here, but the Impulse! Anthology is fantastic. As the final records I’ll be getting from VMP, it seems fitting…great picks, sounds excellent, took over a year to arrive, and they’re sending me an extra pair of socks…the total VMP experience.

I use a Garmin Forerunner 265 my wife and kids got me for Father’s Day this year. (To replace a previous Garmin watch thats battery was starting to not hold after 4 years.) So far I really like it. What functionality do you want from your watch and what’s your price point?

Fine. 7.1/10 Seriously, it’s one of those VMP deeper cuts that’s good, but after an initial 2 or 3 spins, how many times will I actually play it? If I feel like Alice Coltrane, I’m going to put on Ptah or Satchidananda, not Eternity.

It’s fine. Could be worse, they picked a flat out bad Nilsson record for Essentials.

Sure. Everyone’s taste is different, and I guess a 7/10 Nilsson record (especially one that’s interpretations of standards backed by an orchestra) is no better or worse than a 7/10 Alice Coltrane record or a 7/10 Teo Macero record. Just seemed like a weird artist to cram into Classics.

Remember when the idea of Classics was classic Blues, Jazz, and old Soul records? Not mid Harry Nilsson records.
