I made my own as well. I got a sheet of birch ply, a maple hobby board, glued them in a sandwich (ply/green glue/maple/green glue/ply) and clamped and nailed together with finishing nails. Rounded the edges of and sanded them smooth, then stained it. Mounted it to studs with some sorbathane between the wall and brackets. I used very heavy duty brackets rated at 100 lbs each. I tested with 90 lbs before I put a turntable on it. Honestly, I think I could sit on it. Anyway, it took two evenings and about $50.My vinyl playing has ceased completely as the loft floors are a bit bouncy… looking at wall mounts. Anyone have success with a particular one? Looks like Pangea, Pro-Ject and Rega have offerings.
Any input is appreciated!
