Record Store Day 2025

Still trying to find the original 2 I wanted - Blur and Rainbow Kitten Suprise.
(were these ones considers super rare or anything? I didn't think they'd be hard to come by)
I think you'll be able to find these tomorrow online. I saw Blur records that weren't moving at all with the early crowd where I went (this was before I saw your messages). Also, I think there is usually less interest in zoetrope and picture discs (but maybe that's my personal bias speaking).

The great, the good, and not so shabby. FWIW, if you live in TN and you are not shopping at Mckay’s bookstore you are missing out. This bookstore/comic store/ gamers store/ record store has been open since the late 70’s. That no one knows about. Show up at 7:30 and I am 8th in line (that’s the ugly). They are like a pawn shop on steroids and I take my estate sales loot there for trade credit to use on RSD. Used stereo equipment old CD’s - had $300 in trade credit to use this year. Oh- and that’s TAX free since it’s used. Got 7/11 on my list. Missed vegyn air, soul slabs, REALLY wanted that hepcat, and dispensary. View attachment 231434
Yeah McKay’s is great but they used to be better. Their used record prices can be stupid on some things and real cheap on others. But they are pretty fair with trade and that always helps.

I wish I'd had time to go in. I saw one in either Knoxville or Nashville when I was out there for Big Ears

About 12 years ago I met a bloke in line who was wearing a ball cap of team whom we shared a common interest in and every year sans covid, I will see him in line. Our musical interests are the total opposite and he’s always in line way before I am, so there’s no “competition”. He will usually message a few days prior to ask what I’m looking for and if my list is large, I’ll usually tell him my most wanted and he does his best to grab it until I get into the store. This year was no exception as he was able to snag, from what I was told by a store associate, the only copy of Hepcat.
He also grabbed the Mulligan meets Monk for my wife and the Pale Saints album for our friend. Last year I gifted him an autograph picture of a player from our shared team. Not sure what I’m going to do this go around.

Anyway, this our combined “haul”. My wife also picked up Mingus at Monterey. We hit up one more store and I bought Radiohead and Swift for the kiddo.

I'm nearly 1/3 of the way through that book; it's great!
