All Things King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

So how long do I give Fuzz Club a chance to reply on this and what's my next move?

Yes I'm still cranky about it.
that sucks... but I'm really surprised that this seemingly hasn't become a bigger issue.

almost seems strange to me that you need to email them about it. is there not a big outcry on their socials? feels like if there was a lot of noise about this they would need to address it publicly.

I hope you get an answer soon, one way or another...I didn't buy it but I would be more than happy to drum up noise for everyone who did if there's anywhere people are pestering Fuzz Club about it.

Yeah, I've found zero info other than some reddit posts where someone from Levitation was chiming in that their mix had the vocal stem.

Here's what the listing on Fuzz Club says. Nothing about totally missing the LEAD VOCALS...

'Live In San Francisco '24' is available as a deluxe 3LP box-set limited to only 444 numbered copies. Mixed from the stems and mastered by James Plotkin. This is the third drop in our King Gizz 2024 North America Tour bootleg series. 10% discount is automatically applied at check-out if you pick up all four bootlegs of this drop together.
This is a 3LP box set featuring the original poster art by Amy Jean, photos from the show by Maclay Heriot and Makayla Guthrie. Mixed and mastered by James Plotkin from the stems provided by the band.

The only thing is that when you stream their little Soundcloud link it does seem it's the mix they pressed so they might just shrug and say you got what you paid for. Still BS.

it's just bad practice. I'm sure they've forever lost a customer in you, because they're passing off any of their negligence to either the band (provided bad/wrong file) or to the customer (you should have previewed the mix).

the fact that at least one other label saw an issue and reached out to get it fixed shows that this could have been nipped in the bud or at least addressed to the customer BEFORE PRESSING IT/WHEN TAKING PRE ORDERS

again, not totally their fault but seems like they're handling it wrong

Yeah. I think it's just the radio silence that bugs me the most. Like even a shitty reply at this point confirming what I already suspect they are going to say is better than no reply.

Like I'm not asking for a whole new package, just redo the discs with the right stems.

OR AT LEAST PUT IT ON THE FUCKING LISTING THAT THE LEAD VOCAL AREN'T THERE.

I hope they get back to you soon. Typically whenever I've reached out to them in the past it's been a pretty quick response, so it's particularly disappointing to hear that you aren't hearing back from them yet.

I haven't even ceacked mine yet, but I'll drop them a line too.

Definitely seems odd that nobody caught it along the way during production.

Still no reply. Poked them again with an angrier tone.
This is really disappointing to hear. I'm a member so maybe that's part of it, but even when I wasn't, I swear I never had to wait more than 24 hours. My only guess is that they're waiting to see how many complaints they get about this to know what to do. Last time there was a big issue they pressed just that replacement disc for everyone.

Here's the response...

"Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns.

We used all the stems provided to us by the band from that particular show and mixed them to the highest standard possible. As is the nature of bootlegs, the final result can sometimes differ slightly from an official release, which often adds to its unique and collectible character. We could only work with what we had at the time and genuinely believe (along with others that have reached out to us) that the mix and master on this release still sounds amazing and arguably even more rave-ready in this form.

At this time, a repress is not planned, so we can only offer a full refund upon return of the item. If that’s what you’d like to do please let us know and we will confirm a return address.

I hope this makes sense, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.

All the best,"

what the hell does "...and arguably even more rave-ready in this form." even mean?

My reply:

So I don't know, this response still just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I won't argue that what you were provided was mixed and pressed to a high standard. It arguably does sound spectacular.

I guess where I disagree is that the final result will differ "slightly" from an official release. There was no official release so this comparison is a bit of a reach. And trying to argue that leaving out the lead vocals (or not even reaching back out to the band to see if there was a mistake) and then painting this as a "better" version is at best patronizing and at worst negligent and a misrepresentation of a product you are selling. And that part that burns me still is that your listing still does not provide this information up-front and the only way for anyone to see what they might be getting is to stream through your soundcloud link...

For the record, here is what a competitor of yours has listed on their site for this release:
To address some speculation on the internet regarding the stems for San Francisco specifically, we noticed early on that Stu's lead vocal was missing, so we worked with the band's crew to locate the missing stem and our record was then mixed with Stu's lead vocal intact.

I've read your return policy and I'm not keen to attempt a return on my dime. I've already sunk more cost into buying the version from your competitor that you should have provided in the first place.

I know it means next to nothing coming from me, but do better.
