Everything Video Games!

Like, there’s stuff in there I like, and the story eventually introduces some interesting ideas, but I find the cast really uncompelling and I think the designs for characters like Sharla are pretty embarrassing even by the standards of the series.
Sounds like you played the other games. Which would you say is the best? I'm really looking forward to the 3rd game. I've read a bit about the plot and it seems to be really story heavy but interesting themes.

The 3rd is far and away my favorite, and one of my favorite role playing games in years. 2 is also quite fun but has more QoL shortcomings and also some character designs I find kinda tasteless.

@Santi XcX is a huge defender of 2 and doesn’t like 3 as much so I think YMMV. But as an older guy I found the story of 3 pretty moving.

xenoblade 2 is my favorite game of all time, i will defend it with my life, (but i also understand all the shortcomings/faults that game has, so i never get mad/offended if someone hates it or thinks it’s shit)

ive actually warmed up to xc3 a bit more lately. mostly because the dlc story expansion is definitely the massive universe lore drop that i was wanting all along which unfortunately the base story on xc3 lacks of; and also bc of how xenogears-coded that game is. like xc2 is very xenogears-coded too, ngl, but 3 for sureeee takes the cake.

even though soraya saga (co-creator of xenogears) hasn’t really worked on any of the recent monolithsoft games except xc2, i really hopeeeeeeee she comes back for future projects. when she and her husband testuya takahashi ( xenogears/saga/blade director) write together, they’re really cooking

As someone who had only played XC2 (without Torna) before playing XC3, the lore complaints kinda went over my head. It had my favorite of the standalone narratives, with the tie-ins and allusions to the other games being more like easter eggs. I am glad the expansion fleshed that stuff out for the lore fiends, though.

Honestly, the main thing pushing me through XC1 is that I want to be properly prepped for Future Redeemed.

Beat Rayman Legends for the first time last night. There is a lot of content in the game so I may come back and do extra stuff from time to time but I’m pretty satisfied with my experience. Gave me that good pick up and play challenge that I’ve been craving lately.

Started South of Midnight also recently. Moving slowly through it but I’m really enjoying it so far!

I'm nearing the last couple chapters of South of Midnight and still like it!

The two "modern" Rayman games were so much fun...I really wish they'd make a new one!

I beat the first “boss” and that moment was incredible! The song and the atmosphere were so perfect and I can’t wait to see what else this game can do!

I just want any Rayman at this point! I have so much nostalgia for the 3rd one and I’d love another 3d platformer

I beat South Of Midnight about a week ago... cool game! such amazing atmosphere!!

one of those games where the story is better than the gameplay, but overall combat is fun enough that the strength of everything else really carries the game

Think I'm gonna pry myself away from Two Point Museum for a bit. Clair Obscur is downloading for whenever I have free time.

Forza Horizon drops on PS5 tomorrow so it has competition.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is all I can think about since I started.

I'm currently in ACT 2 and hit a major plot point last night... it's just so fucking good

yeah, played it on Xbox (Game Pass) ... super fun game
I haven't played 5, but loved 3 & 4.
I'm pretty bummed it apparently is terrible on a wheel/pedal combo. I've been looking for more games to break it out for but everything I read said it's pretty much designed with a controller in mind, and it's absolutely awful to handle with a wheel.

There's also just not enough games on the PS5 to take advantage of a wheel I'm finding.
GT7 is just okay when you get used to it, but you can also do much better at times with the controller. It's almost an afterthought.

The F1 games shine though, holy crap. It's super satisfying and your arms are left shaking after doing a full race on one.

PC seems to have more options with sim racing and Assetto Corsa. The later is on the PS5 but I have never pulled the trigger because everything I've read said it's a game that is only good once modders get their hands on it.

I have heard good things about Wreckfest, maybe I'll give that a shot once I clear the backlog.

I've seen this elsewhere and it resonated with me through my first 30 minutes or so in Clair Obscure: I haven't been sucked into a world like this since the opening of BioShock Infinite. Just world class world building.
