I believe it mostly came down to insular comic dude-bros not liking her casting as Captain Marvel and that she was pretty outspoken (the horror!) about wanting more diversity in the movies, fanbase, and press. . I really want Brie Larson to be cast in a Star Wars movie, simply to watch SW dude-bros heads exploding.

and really, who where these people hoping would be casted as Carol Danvers? She's a pretty damn solid choice.

@DJSJ I've heard people rumble about Emily Blunt should've been Marvel. But honestly had she been chosen incels would've found something to get aggro about

@Archduke Diaper Baby I always hear people fancasting her as Sue Storm. That I can see, Carol not so much. But they also want John Krasinski to play Reed Richards which is such bad casting.

@DJSJ yup I've seen the F4 fancasting for them. I thought Capt Marvel was enjoyable. I'm not a huge Marvel person (prob seen ~40-50% of em over the years) but I thought she did the character well
