Some crazy shit. We had a very similar thing - a “derecho” which is basically an inland hurricane - a couple years back. Took the top 1/3 of a 3-story maple in my yard and threw it *over* power lines and two yards down the street. Had like an 18” trunk where it sheared.

We had a microburst like that here back in late May right after school let out. Tore down lots of trees, crippled power lines, and uprooted 50+ year old healthy trees. It took our area at least two months to fully recover. We're getting at least 1-2 of these events every year now.

I should clarify. The power for most of the area came back within a week. It took about 2 weeks to clear out downed trees. It took 2 months for all the dead, cut down trees to be removed from people's yards/medians by the bulk trash collectors. I'm sure the fall firewood supply is going to be amazing.
