I haven't been to New Orleans in a while but I think you're really close to Mardi Gras World which we really enjoyed. If you enjoy walking, I would recommend taking a stroll through the Garden District. You could take a street car back to the Convention Center area.

The convention center isn’t close to much. I am trying to remember if there is a streetcar line near you. If so, I recommend hopping on one to uptown and seeing stuff there.

Downtown is going to have more music venues, check to see who is playing at Tipitinas, House of Blues, and the Joy theater. Also catch a haunted history tour in the quarter if you can.

The streetcar line is on St Charles, which is a big part of the reason I’m looking around there. Appreciate the help!

I don’t know what the weather will be like, but my wife did a walking ghost tour that was really cool. Don’t remember the name of the company but I believe it met close to the Louis Armstrong park

I live there now so I can give recs.

You do not really want to stay in Central City. It can be dicey (I live adjacent to it but you really have to know it's block by block). And that also makes it seem like you are in an AirBnB, which I would not recommend. Locals hate those with a fire I have not seen elsewhere.
