square deals has the thick white cardboard ones with lids but then are crazy expensive now. uhaul smalls are good for a short move but don't fill them to the brim. some of mine ripped due to weight when i moved last time.
@MikeH Thanks for the heads up Mike. It's only a 2 mile move versus the cross country one I did last time. The white cardboard with handles were the ones I used for that move. Hopefully the Uhaul will suffice. Are the hard to carry though? The handles were definitely clutch. I bought a place, so this will be the last move in a long time hopefully.
Yup I moved from Las Vegas to San Antonio earlier this year. I packed the records myself in those small Uhaul boxes and then a moving company transported them (~1200 records). No damage.
@DownIsTheNewUp you should be more than fine with the uhaul boxes. can't recall if they have handles though. depending on how many records you have, those square deal ones are great but real pricey now. last i saw, they were something like $10 per box!
I moved over the summer and packed all records in uhaul small boxes. Worked great but the handles do rip some (nothing disastrous but a small annoyance). I may or may not have over packed the boxes.
Small uhaul boxes 100%. I've moved 5 times in the last 10 years, two of them 1,200 miles to new states, and those boxes are by far the best thing. If you have a kallax they fit about a cube to a box. Three boxes on a dolly and you are truckin.
