I would seriously doubt they are using AI. The lawyers will say there is way to much liability and the chances of getting sued for copyright infringement are very good.

The CW has been doing this for years. No name artist covering songs, because it's much cheaper in the ryalteies department.

Also, more annoying is when you watch old tv shows or movies, and find that music that once was in them has been replaced because the license rights have expired and they can no longer air in reruns with the original music or stream.

What makes you say that? Most of the music I've paid attention to is just re-hash of the previous soundtrack and Khruangbin.
