    Tonearm recommendations, thoughts, favorites?

I kind of forgot about Audiomods until I just came across one of their Rega based arms in another forum. Looks like they've made some design updates. Would be interesting to hear one of these on a 1200g.

Given the age, I would also check to see if the plinth is straight. It looks like that might be an MDF plinth, which will undoubtedly corrode over time. Especially if it's been exposed to humidity or temperature changes. If that's the case, it's likely more trouble than it's worth to fix it.

https://everydayaudiophile.com/2019/12/23/rega-osiris-a-dual-mono-champ/ This guy is in DFW and I’ve gotten to know him over the past year. I could probably put you in touch. PM me if that’s of interest.

YoU’rE wElCoMe!!!! PS, the gear I pictured would “only” be like $40k, assuming you already have a TT, phono, steamer/dac, and cables. NBD right?

When I see the specs, the LaScala was the first thing that came to my mind honestly. This is basically what I assume you’re life is now: And in my brain, this is where La Scalas and Jubilee belong. Running off a set of 300B SET monos of course.

Yes, for me the big draw that keeps me thinking about Technics is by far the ease of ownership. I just greased the bearing and ordered a new belt for my Ultradeck because the pitch shift from speed variations became pretty audible. Not a huge deal, but took away from the records I was playing...

Luckily for me, it's so far out of price range that it's just easier for me to not covet. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome. But I tend to have an easier time moving on from the idea of a piece of gear when it's just painful to imagine what I would need to give up to get there. And the type of...

I think Fremer's statement was the only one to go on record saying that he feels the 1300 is better than the 1200. Every other review (including those that use them in A/B testing) feel differently.

I didn't count the SP-10R because it's not a ready to play solution direct from Technics. Yes, it's $10k... with no plinth and no arm. So I think the line still has plenty of room for a 1100/1000G concept. I do agree that we'll see a 1200G2 at some point. And I'd guess a $4500 price on that...

The Technics Turntable Fan Club - Questions, Advice, Discussion

Let's do some speculating. Does anyone think we see a new "flagship" offering from Technics in the near future? My thought is a 1300G style but built at or beyond the current 1200G. Obviously with the new power supply and maybe some other goodies. They have a huge gap between the 1200G and the...

Honestly, I wouldn’t stress about it. Move in, set up, introduce yourself to neighbors and give them your phone number. Then make sure to invite them over to listen.

Even the 1200g comes in $1700 less. Fieckert Volare with tonearm is $1500 less. VPI Prime 21 is $1300 less. The dual motor 25th ed Volare is $1200 less. With any of those choices you have enough remaining budget for a Hana ML, and in most cases money in your pocket. And like you said, at $6k...

You say that, but that’s a lot of space to pressurize. You might find yourself running higher volumes to achieve the sense of impact you are used to in a smaller space. A bass dropout can impact your midrange, so it can be a bit of a domino effect. Even at the same distance. So you turn it up...

While I'm sure these products are effective when used correctly, this is not an area I am trying to dive into really. I previously started down this rabbit hole with GIK. Did loads of homework, got ones that were visually intrusive but did the custom covers to make them more visually appealing...

Who can educate me on diffusion? Will these do anything functional, or just look mildly cool? I think I’m committed to them either way to fill the gap above the equipment rack, but I wouldn’t mind if they offer some function as well.

I figured a new model was likely on the way at some point, but the real question for me will be who is designing it. I’d kind of be surprised if AP was willing to do another round of reasonably priced decks. I also think there are potentially just facing challenges with the reality of hitting...
