To be honest, spending the money on a power cable does not make me happy, lol. New components are much more fun. But now I feel confident that I have a foundation in place to get the most out of any future components that come into the system. Sutherland 20/20 LPS is next!

Alright everyone, I'm here to share a mildly upsetting story. Before I get into it, don't ask me about the science or why this works. I don't know. I didn't want it to work. I'm still confused as to why this even remotely makes a difference, but it made enough of a difference that after 6 months...

The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

I think it depends on the specific model and release. Going for one gen to the next, probably pretty minimal. Going from v1 to 15th, probably not life changing but noticeable.

I haven't ever had the chance to hear any Denafrips gear, but they have always looked very interesting to me.

Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Hard to say. That's a solid price, especially if you can talk them down a little more. I haven't heard the new one so I have no idea how impactful any updates may be.

The volume control change is the big thing they have been pushing on the latest. I don't remember the details of how it works, but I believe that's the main change. I've been following those ones on audiogon, but I think I'm going to focus on power and maybe cartridges first.

    The Zu DWX Thread

I can't remember all the specific models. Nothing higher up the catalog. I think I've heard 4 different Zu systems over the years, mostly at audio shows but one in a home with a fully upgraded dirty weekend. The sound always feels very scooped or even thin in my experience. It's a fun sound...

    The Zu DWX Thread

They look wonderful! I've always loved the look of Zu's and the way they discuss music and position their company. I want to like their speakers, but I have year to hear a Zu based system that caught my ear unfortunately.

Amazing explanation, thank you! I keep letting my eyes wonder to other phonos, but things like this just keep bringing me back.

Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

We did whole home surge protection as soon as we moved in. And we'll likely have an even more robust one put in once we have the breaker box modernized this year or next. Also had the surge checked in the late summer after some storms, so feeling pretty good about all that.

Audio Hardware Deals: Speakers, Headphones, Turntables, Etc.

I'm very much a cable guy. I wasn't for a long time, but I can't deny the experiences I've had in cable testing. It doesn't impact as much in every system, but I know from testing other cables in my system that cables are a viable upgrade. Especially if I go further up with other equipment.

Tidal Connect is by far the most simple hi res streaming solution. Put the iPad and Node on the same wifi network. Play something on Tidal. Select the streaming source icon in the top right. Select the Node. Now you're simply using the iPad as a remote with the data streaming straight into...

I use a Wireword Spaceport for my power supply. It has 6 outlets, all of which are currently in use. I also use a single box streamer/dac, which only uses one power cord. If I wanted to move to say a Lumin steamer and a Denafrips dac, well now I need an extra outlet. I could buy a second or...

Heard it, didn't impress me. Maybe it was other things in the demo system, but it was bland enough to never pursue it again. The TT though, I honestly love the sound of every VPI I've heard, but I also really like the 1200 series and the ease of ownership is much smoother with the technics in...

Yeah, that is a relevant factor for sure. I had hana on the list as well, no opposed to that. Honestly on the TT front I have definitely considered just saving up $5500ish for a 1200G + cart. It would take a bit, but might be worth it. Honestly deep in my mind I think cables are the front...
