    Totally Tubular: The Tube Thread

I really like the Electro Harmonix 6CA7, which is an EL84 equivalent. It has that sweet midrange plus the bottom end that a lot of modern EL84s lack. They’re also very inexpensive.

Cables - one of the most taboo subjects in audio

I highly recommend Signal Cable. I replaced my Zu Mission cables with a set of Analog Two’s. They were far and away better. More midrange clarity, more bass, and slightly more smooth. I’ve tried their Silver Resolution RCAs as well. They had more detail, but the treble was very fatiguing. The...

Agreed. Just seeing an actor playing drums in the video made me sigh.

Let's See What Makes Your Vinyl Spin!

All the gear in that room was probably the best I’ll ever hear. I don’t remember how different the Garrard sounded compared to the others, but it looked great and the idler wheel design is fascinating.

I saw one of these in the listening room of an acquaintance once. It was one of three tables he had in there and my favorite by far.

I haven’t heard the Quads/PS or the Lintons, but I can tell you that six months in I’m very happy with my Dialogue Premium.

    Vinyl Storage Recommendation

I have a non-slip mat under them so they don’t slip forward. For accessing the bottom shelf, I have knees. ;)

    Vinyl Storage Recommendation

I was given a cabinet by a neighbor that was too shallow for records, so I faced the art out. I can’t fit as many records as I would with the spines out, but it looks nice.

It’s the stock arm that came with the Aries, the first JMW 10. I hear good things about the 3D arms, but I find it hard to justify the cost.

Any idea why they’re so much more expensive? Is it just the change in cabinet materials?

    Fresh Grabs

Nice. This is the first one I’ve gotten where I have the standard release as well. Both sound great, but the white label is definitely better.

If you’re interested in a modern EL34 sound but with bass, try the Electro-Harmonix 6CA7s. They sound great and are a steal at the price. Less “ugh” for your dollar! I haven’t thought about moving back to solid state but I do still have my Marantz and have no plans to let it go. I may swap it...
