    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Ugh. I've said it before but I think for this product a corner ding is replacement-worthy. I think a guarantee of pristine quality should be built in to the high price, not merely "playable" but perhaps I'm being unfair/unrealistic. If it were a normal box set shipped in one go the sleeves would...

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Yes, I agree. As an international (with a crappy exchange rate) it was a big call and I got swept up in the excitement of it all to some extent. I put some faith in the whole "experience" being something pretty cool and in the end it really wasn't. If you don't count the free Shorter record in a...

    The National

They're actually really consistent, regular visitors to Australia which is freaking awesome. The fact they can book three shows at the Palais in Melbourne is a good indicator of their following over here. I'm all in on the peer pressure of @whatwhatsaywhat and @AngryVal to go to all three nights...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I'm being pedantic to be fair, but there is a tone deafness in this if it is indeed a new "policy" that is sadly consistent with recent developments.

What is a nickel and where do I obtain such a measuring device?

    The National

Hehe what a dilemma! They mix their set lists up so much I'd be battling major FOMO if I didn't go all in! I'm anticipating we're looking at $100+ a night though at least

    The National

In envious of you Melbournites - 3 nights what a life! I'm looking at a trip to Brisbane, it's the best fit with my work roster. Delighted regardless, and not at all surprised but relieved that they are including us on this tour. And Phoebe Bridgers too what a bonus!

My awesome local store Clarity Records also has an online presence, they've got a decent little sale including some RSD titles (Moses Sumney for $15!), pretty random selection but worth a look, free tote bag while stocks last too apparently: https://clarityrecords.net/vinyl/clearance-sale/

Your week in music (last.fm collages...)

My week. The National clinging on amongst a sea of jazz. It's an accurate portrayal of the inside of my head these days.

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Same same. If nothing else this is just clumsy and deflating. On the plus side, I will be launching my new Off-Broadway play "Waiting For Weyes Blood" next week. Will be getting invites out to you all shortly.

    Fresh Grabs

It really is a beautiful package. It should be for the price but you can tell that a good deal of thought and care has gone in to it. So far so fantastic...I absolutely love this period of Coltrane's work, is amazing that this represents a year's output and I love the chronological sequencing...

    Jazz

This one is growing on me in a big way. My novice ears are hearing it as a kind of a sister album to Joel Ross' KingMaker. Has a similar warmth and playfulness to me, as well as the very obvious connection of Ross and his vibes - some of the runs that he and Aldana on her sax do in unison are...

    Jazz

Ohhhh I've been listening to Soul Junction on a heavy repeat these last few weeks. Red's delicate, intricate, bluesy runs are gripping. Been meaning to ask for some more recommendations, I will check this out.

This popped up in my inbox i, I have their first EP and it's pretty cool, a bit funky with some electronic textures combined with live instrumentation. This debut LP sounds nice on first listen.. https://knkjs.bandcamp.com/album/hidden-lines

The N&G Listening Club V1 - Archive only

Listening now and I like it. I love the delicacy in the sounds and textures, I find it calming but interesting, as opposed to "background music". I love Frahm's work, but especially his more playful stuff - I freaking love those Nonkeen albums and this is reminding me to dig them out and give...
