Ryan's work is mighty fine in my book. Very talented guy where you can buy albums with confidence. Lately, I'm really digging the heck out of the sound when Matt's cutting with the old Doug Sax console. Sounds like we'll get some of his cuts on upcoming rock titles for the new Rhino Reserve...

My jaw is on the ground with Never Tear Us Apart The silent vinyl absolutely slays here. Props to RKS! These are awesome sounding tracks across the album. Can't recommend enough.

Step Up Transformers - SUT Thread

I have read the Rothwell article before. Just to point out how conflicting the recommended ratios can be, Bob's recommends 1:40 and the Rothwell recommends 1:24 on the same Denon 103R. Reel-To-Reel and Tapeheads Thread

One strange thing I have discovered in this venture. After looking at an original KOB Columbia 7.5ips tape up for sale ($500🙄), I noticed it was missing tracks and they lopped of certain tracks from the master to make it fit. Very bizarre and a reason it would be difficult to pay much money for...

Step Up Transformers - SUT Thread

You can't brick a passive analog device. SUTs ratios are very much like tonearm compliance. Don't overthink the ratios. The change from my 1:15 switch to 1:30 is not night and day. It's pretty subtle like turning the impedance up and down on a phono amp.

    Reel-To-Reel and Tapeheads Thread

Looks like he's recording to tape. Yes, you can find older 7" reels on the eBays and cogs as well as 10.5" . The Nat King above was $80 and it's absolutely beautiful for a tape of 1957. 4 track has a boatload more selection of used titles over the years but you give up some fidelity and the...
