I have the Platinum. Never had the Opus. It’s a great cart and I’ve had it for about 2 years now.

A very good jazz album. RHH is an album that is not very well known and Essentials is a pick that makes absolutely no sense for the track - neither are likely to be strong sellers.

It is a great album, I find most Gram Parsons pretty essential (which is why G.P. is high on my list, I have every other studio album he made during his lifetime on vinyl).

I feel like a lot of the reissue labels are like this. Take Johnny Cash’s At Folsom Prison, VMP, Mofi and regular reissues all came within a year or two of each other. There’s many other albums from artists like this that deserve quality treatment.

Would have greatly preferred G.P. as I don’t believe that one has seen a recent audiophile reissue and I need it. The VMP Grevious Angel was great, so I don’t think I need to double dip here.

I have to say, one of the most frustrating small things with VMP is the fact that you can’t use store credit with coupons and that there is inconsistency in how coupons apply. If you’re going to make yourselves the Kohl’s of vinyl records, at least make the user experience easier.

This is definitely a negative development in the post Covid landscape. Rights holders like Craft and Rhino have treated customers right, whereas many others have not. I haven’t ventured to the IVC because it definitely seems like there’s no care whatsoever on pressing quality or other signifiers...

I just don’t see any universe where that’s the lead selection for a major record service absent the over the top Stax obsession of (one of) their major curator(s).

Agreed. I hate stores that do that. There's no reason to ever pay full price if everything is on sale, or will be on sale at some point. And then, they wonder why they can't move goods at full price? Just price it right the first time.

Given that it is a core collection, 4 star, from Penguin and 5 stars on Allmusic, it seems like something that definitely should be in print

I listened to this after the announcement and it’s fine? It felt like a time and place and not something I’d really ever reach for. The fact that a 150 numbered variant hasn’t sold out tells me all we need to know about the probable demand.

That’s why it makes an excellent left field classics pick that I can choose to ignore, not a main essentials pick
