Not sure about Maiden Voyage, but I prefer my BN75 of Somethin' Else over the Japanese King pressing I have, so there are definitely some good ones out there.

It's certainly possible. The only one I own both of is Blue Train, but the AP is stereo and the MMJ is mono, so it's not really a meaningful comparison.

The AP is 45. There has been some back-and-forth on the Hoffman MMJ reissue thread about the AP vs.SRX. In that hyper-specific, very small sample size, the posters there seem to prefer the AP reissues by about 3:1. Everyone there is quick to lament the packaging on the AP reissues, though.

What's The Most Valuable Record In Your Collection?

I'm pretty sure my two most valuable are the white label promo of the first Japanese stereo issue of Kind of Blue, and a Music Matters Jazz Indestructible that was part of a tiny run on SRX (AKA SuperVinyl) vinyl. No idea what either is worth because there's no real sales history.

Definitely some gems there. Hub Cap and Up At Minton's are regarded as classics. I think that 3 sounds album is great, too. Lots of praise for Blowin' In From Chicago. It could be a function of how much output he had, but those Lou Donaldsons are my favorites. They are totally fine, but I'd look...

That was John Dark (AKA DarkNRG), who works for MMJ saying that.

It's hilarious to report that the discussion is scattered throughout pages 933-935 of PART SEVEN of the Music Matters Jazz reissues thread: Music Matters Definitive Blue Note 45 RPM and 33 & 1/3 RPM vinyl series (pt7) Enjoy!

Are you saying Blue Train is the best album? Or the AP is the best version? Or were you talking about the MMJ version? A little back-and-forth on the Hoffman forums today about stereo vs. mono, 45 vs 33 SRX, etc.

Probably because the recent Music Matters Blue Train was $74.99 for 1x 33RPM LP on SRX (and maybe regular vinyl, too; I'm not sure how much that sold for), and has sold out, so why not?

Do you like congas? If so, The Time Is Right features Ray Barretto. For me, the combo of congas and Blue Mitchell puts The Time Is Right slightly ahead, but they are both fun.

I had this happen with Ike Quebec Blue and Sentimental last year. They had me ship the records and sleeve back. I believe I had to pay shipping back to Acoustic Sounds, but they accepted the return no problem. It took quite some time for me to get the replacement, and it was almost as bad as the...

I stand corrected. From John Dark on SHF: "As for the two current titles, we have Blue Train in stock right now but when they're gone they are gone with no plans for more. Our shipment of Moanin' sold out quickly tonight but we do hope for a few more of that title, but with no specific date...

I think there's no way it's all gone. I was watching the stock and it went from 82 or so to 0 in about a minute. I'm thinking someone tried to buy out all of the stock and the system allowed them to check out. Once a human gets eyes on that tomorrow, I think the stock will return with several...

Will be reissued at 33 RPM on their new SRX (SuperVinyl) vinyl formulation in April. It's the same mastering as the MMJ 33, but they had new stampers made (maybe even new mothers? I cant remember.).

Any replacements I have received from MMJ have been just the record in a plain sleeve or an empty jacket.
