Totally in for Ray Barretto. Excellent pick there. Love that they're doing a Ray Charles album too, but that one sort of feels like a "We really want to do Ray Charles and this is the album we can get" sort of pick. I'll probably stick with it nonetheless. On the fence with Sextant as it is a...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I'll definitely give Riot a go. Absolutely no interest in Bone Thugs, so there's a swap I'm not sure what I'll do with. Was pretty meh on Santigold when it came out and that opinion hasn't changed, but I think that's the month Raw Power is hitting the Rock track, so easy swap there.

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Got an email saying Bonetones is now supposed to ship next week. But haven't heard updates about Yo La Tengo yet, which was supposed to ship like two weeks ago, I believe. And I feel like I haven't heard a thing about the Hadley Caliman at all so for.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Oh, probably gonna jump in for Iggy and ZZ Top for sure as I somehow don't have a copy of either of those records. Will be very interested to see how they play this track going forward too. Lots of potential here. But also a lot of potential for cringe picks.

Now that you say it, yeah, it might be just Pam these days. She's always been super nice to me. Poor, poor Pam.

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Oh man. I don't think I've ever pitied a Customer Service team more than the poor kids working Bandbox's lines today. Remember to be nice to those cats when you're reaching out, folks.

In a fun twist on this complicated matter - just went up on the site today.

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Yeah, seems very odd to pull this just a couple of days before the month's orders process too. Slightly concerned about the albums I've pre-ordered now as well. Hopefully those will still go out as planned ... though the ongoing, and unaddressed delay with Metric (now a month later then...

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Anybody get shipping on Metric yet? Feel like that was supposed to go out end of March, right?

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Yeah, nothing like groundbreaking about it, but really well done folky indie rock/pop stuff with a sunny, melancholic vibe. Probably sticking with Luna this month, but likely to grab this if it's still around next month for sure.

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Actually not at all familiar with this artist or album. Kinda digging what I hear so far. Very Michael Penn-y from what I hear. Anyway, looks like it went up on the site today.

This would be a wicked cool turn of events.

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

Yeah, was just gonna say that looks a lot like the cover of Penthouse. Hopefully they'll toss another Luna album in the mix as well. Surprised to see Penthouse hasn't been pressed since the immaculate RSD release a few years back, and that one's listing for $199 on Discogs at the moment.

It's worrisome that we've been driven to discussing Goo Goo Dolls and Nickelback even if largely in jest.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I feel like (most) people aren't really directing the hate at the band so much as this album being the Essentials pick. It's maybe a little too specific to a time/place in history (and most people's personal lives for that matter) to fit the bill. Essentials feel like they should be a little...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

That Sublime pick is gonna be one of those nostalgia grabs for a lot of folks who get it home, play it once, and think, "Man, I did not have good taste in high school." Then they'll spend the next six months trying to flip it on ebay for $50.

In VMP's defense, when DCFC plays live, Gibbard actually introduces them, "We're Death Cab For Cutie from Seattle, Washington." But you are correct in principle, and virtually very other aspect of this post.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

This has been, and will continue to be the central problem with the tier of albums they're booking on the Essentials track these days.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Oh wow. I foresee a lot of swapping in my future. I understand people love that Sublime album, but I just have no interest in revisiting it. Same for Stevie Ray. As it is, Transatlanticism is the only one of the three I like, and I've already got a pretty flawless copy of that that doesn't...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Big fan myself, and currently do not have a copy of Beautiful Freak, so would be extremely happy if that were the pick. Also have somehow never gotten around to reading that book. Definitely need to remedy that oversight.
