So I went to the Cyro Baptista show last night and some LA musicians say in with him about 1/2 way through the set. It took me a couple of minutes but I realized I’ve “played” music with them in a park.

Have you heard the Agharta/Dark Magus era albums? People usually bow out around those albums.

I think this company used to have one of those fancy listening bars in downtown LA. The records they sold on the site we curated pretty well.

Bjork also uses breath as an artistic/musical effect. Yo La Tengo also. Close micing gives a really intimate feel like they are whispering in your ear. Personally I’d rather have Bjork doing that than Ira from YLT.

They can also use an affect called a noise gate to decrease the volume once it goes below a certain level. Think 80’s drum sounds. The reverb was “gated” the classic Phill Collins drum fill and Prince often gated his drums.

Ok I’m cooking around to this album. That first track really makes a statement! I’ve always been more of a Lee Morgan fan. Not that I don’t like Hubbard. Lee’s flair for the dramatic just really hits me the right way.
