The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

Weird, I didn't realize Albini's production on Rid of Me was so divisive. I thought it just sounded like the band in a room playing the songs, as basic as you can get (save for Man-Sized Sextet, which hits my ears in the right spot).

    Rank The Albums!

I watched one of the Woodstock 99 documentaries, and seeing the crowd when they opened with Blind there was... intense.

    Rank The Albums!

I haven't followed them since Untouchables, but these rankings convinced me to listen to The Nothing, which was pretty interesting. They don't really move me anymore, but I can see the uptick in quality. 1) Jonathan Davis still sounds pretty amazing, his voice hasn't aged. I like that he's...

    Everything Video Games!

What a weird collection of songs. The only one I recognized was the Lynch Mob song, and that's from 30+ years ago.

The 1001 Album Generator Project Thread

Back in 2004-2005, Cigarettes and Alcohol was one of my open mic standards to play. Mind you, I fit that description very well in my twenties.

The 1001 Album Generator Project Thread

What's odd is that I enjoyed a lot of "alternative" radio around 96-97, when you'd get The Cardigans, Eels, Failure, etc... just a random assortment of music where it felt like no one knew what was coming so they'd try anything.

The 1001 Album Generator Project Thread

I remember the evening I bought The Black Rider, it was a really snowy evening, I was a janitor at a mega-church (I was the worst janitor), and I put the album on whilst shoveling snow with churchgoers walking past. It was such a perfect extended moment.

    Everything Video Games!

Let's just say, after standing up, jumping around, and yelling at the screen last year when I played Elden Ring, I can relate to him.

Now my eight (nearly nine) year old started playing Elden Ring, and already beat Margit the Fell Omen (level 19). It's pretty entertaining, as he jumps up and down while playing.

    Everything Video Games!

After I was obsessed with Elden Ring last year, my oldest (15) is finally playing it. 1) He's way better at it than I am, playing as a melee character, not rune farming and just learning attack patterns of enemies 2) He finally got to a point the other day against 2 crucible knights when, after...

Sunn O))) Shoshin Duo tonight at the Rialto. They're not something I normally listen to, but I decided to buy a ticket. Got my earplugs ready (I'm of an age when I should've started using them years ago.)

My introduction to that song was the Big Time version on a "greatest hits" type compilation. It hits me in the feels every time.
