I used a JD9 for 4-5 yrs. You can also run 5751 tubes in there. 5751’s have 70% the output of 12ax7’s. If you’re curious about them, look for a cheaper matched pair before splurging on the pricey ones. It’s NOT for everyone, but if you want to back the gain off more, they do work.

    Online Vinyl Deals

Dunno, website shows limited or out of stock on those albums for stores around me. Seems the website won’t show in store pickup or price for low or limited stock. In the past, my local store has had some discounts that get posted here but not all.

Haven’t been keeping up with the thread, I’ve saved $100’s! At target today got latest Black Pumas (7.49), Collective Soul 7yr Itch (7.49) and Hootie and the Blowfish (5.99). Already have the Hootie for probably 5x that yrs ago, got it for a friend. We went to Myrtle Beach in 92/3 and could...

I did exactly this yesterday, a 1210G. It's on backorder, but got a decent deal. If the Master was priced in the $4-5k range it would have given me pause, $6K seems a bit much. The new arm looks night and day better than the SD/UD arm. I do look forward to these landing in some of your hands...

The bottom of the cart looks real close to the recorLooks tail high to me. Pics can be tricky, using the lines on the record weight it looks tail up. I also busted the tonearm way back and still get anxiety about adjusting the arm height. Listen to it a bit and if you like the sound leave it...

The G is on my radar, likely making that jump sometime in the near future. However, I’m not in the loop if G2 is in the works like the GR2.

Before I got my SD, I was all in with Dual turntables. I’ve had at least a dozen over the years. I completely rebuilt a 721 and that was daily driver. Any diva talk go hand in hand with Duals. Over engineered, insane tolerances, but I still love them. I’ve had multiple issues with my SD. I was...

I’d agree there’s likely a handful or so sources for them. This gives me hope though, it’s a Rega lifter.

Could you post some pics when you get the new part? Im curious if the lifter is at all serviceable, more specifically, does it look as if there’s a way to add fluid to the mechanism. Then again, even if it is serviceable, I wonder what type of damping fluid is even in there.

Yikes. Hard to tell from the short video. Only thing that looked strange was the belt moving towards the motor, for a second or so it wiggles then straightens out. Does the motor spin freely without the belt? Perhaps a bad bearing in the motor?

Update on the cue lever issue, there is no update. Mofi hasn’t returned my email, likely in the “that’s a 2024 issue” pile. I plan to follow up with them after the new year. Local dealer was no help on info, seemed like a brush off. In any event, I can still use the cue lever, I just need to be...

    Totally Tubular: The Tube Thread

Some claim the cryo’d tubes sound better. Some have even sent an entire amp in to be frozen. It’s one of those things that get debated. I’ve never sought out a cryo’d tube, there’s enough choices to hamper my brain when shopping for tubes I don’t need the added choices. When you mentioned the...

    Totally Tubular: The Tube Thread

If you’re thinking of cryo’d tubes take a look at Cryotone. I have one cryotone tube, a rectifier, that came with a pre I bought used. That’s my only experience with cryo’d tubes. It’s a 5ar4, I did try an RCA 5v4 in its place, listened for a night and went back to the 5ar4.

Sent an email to Mofi. I bought the table used. Then I had the arm “crash” while adjusting VTA. Mofi repaired it, took six months due to Covid. Been fine ever since. Moving parts fail, a fact of life. The person I bought it from, bought it at a dealer across town. Funny, I’ve been trying to...

Warrantee is likely long gone. This happened cause I was shopping around for a 1210G, I just know it. I do plan to keep the SD in a different system. I did search and saw the posts where this was mentioned, but other than replacing the table I didn't find definitive info. I'll reach out to Mofi...

No goo on the table, but there is a mess of goo at the bottom of the mechanism. If I lower the lever down real slow it’s ok. If there’s no way to refill the fluid, that’s game over for that part. If there is a way to refill it, I suspect an o-ring inside is shot and refilling will only last so...

Over the past two days when I drop the cue lever on my SD the arm drops quickly in the record. If I raise the arm away from the arm rest, it does stay up. It just drops too damn fast. I searched and it wasn’t clear to me if the downward drop is adjustable or if it needs replaced. Any insights...

    Totally Tubular: The Tube Thread

Since this was mentioned figured I’d chime in. I’ve got an FX10 (auto bias) and a 1102 with EZ bias. The ez bias is great, but it takes a bit of dexterity to get a screwdriver in there without banging tubes. Once it’s set the bias holds pretty well. The FX10, is a circus show with the LEDs under...

    1. It’s a pain for me to get my hands under while tilting the table up. 2. The paper seems more solid to me or less prone to vibration. In reality that’s probably splitting hairs. My table sits on a thick cutting board with isolating feet between it and the rack.
