    Totally Tubular: The Tube Thread

Not on the waitlist. I went the used route to get a SE84UFO and a ZP3. Took me almost a year to get both, but they are mine now! I see you signed up on their forum. Lots of good reading over there.

I should also add, I’ve bought maybe 20 new, sealed records this yr so I don’t have a huge sample size like others. Shot my wad on new equipment instead.

My experience is the more you improve equipment, the more you find defects. There’s always a weak link or comprise. For some that’s the thrill of the chase. Some new vinyl is a crapshoot nowadays. Plants are rushed and backed up. However, I’ve yet to find an off center vinyl. I get lists of...

I didn’t try between the third and fourth. My cart is supposedly 8gr, though I never weighed it. Notch 2 goes up to 8 and notch three starts at 8. Like Static Shock says, the exercise continues. As for the arm drop, let’s say I cue the arm for track two and quickly drown the arm that’s when it...

Perhaps I’m anti establishment…I have mine right smack in the middle, between 2&3. Why? It seems right there gives me the best balance with no sibilance. I’ve also noticed when using 2 or 3 and lowering the arm that the arm will not drop straight down, it will slightly drift one way or the other.

Between two friends and myself I think we got most of what we were after at a bunch Walmarts. Nice having a friend who travels daily for work. Well, minus the escher box and AIC Dirt. Had to wait last night to get to the bins, it was busy! As for shady Walmarts...I can totally see this likely...

As a former software tester, that was what I had to plan for! The only legit answer I have is upgrade-itis. Someone had mentioned rewriting their table, not Mofi, with silver wire and loving it. I rewired a Dual 721 yrs ago and honestly, tonearm wires are the devil! Too tiny for my hands.

I don't think I recall this brought up anywhere and that may be due to no need for it...anyhow, has anyone done or considered rewiring the tonearm? I have no intent to do so, the question is more of a curiosity if it has been done and any results.

I now own a nice aluminum paper weight. My Heavyweight arrived yesterday. I'm hesitant to offer opinions after just one night of listening, but...the Heavyweight sounds much better than the aluminum weight, the biggest and most noticeable difference to me is added depth.

I didn't measure it after adjusting, best guess is somewhere in high 1.8/low 1.9. I'd set it right in the middle like kvetcha, if it sounds good...sit back and enjoy. Or back it off some and test. If it skips, add more.

At that price I knew I was late to the party. Think I’m going to try Music Direct and see if I luck out like a few others have. Meanwhile, I took a break from my studiodeck. Had to fix a TT for a friend and put my old Dual 721 in its place. Have the same OC9/3 on the 721 and was blown away by...

Something is not happy inside that motor. I found a pic of the motor, I was hoping to see one opened up to see what's inside. No luck. Pic: My suspicion is the shaft in the motor is not 100% perpendicular to the housing and one the one side it's rubbing/thumping. But, why? Bearings could be a...

I’m hoping it maybe frees up some UD’s on the 2nd hand market. At this point, that’s really the only upgrade I’m considering. A $6k TT is out of reach for me and realistically the diminishing returns are way too high for my setup. Maybe the new Mofi will play T Bone’s new “format”!

I do the same thing, touch the top nut on my flexi style rack. Same thing in a basement with a microfiber chair, zapped too many times I finally learned.

Haven’t experienced that, but sounds like it could be a capacitor not keeping its charge or a loose connection that disconnects when warm. Just ideas off the top of my head.
