Gotta warp, these members can help. [Vinyl Flat]

So a random $750 check landed yesterday. I'm putting $500 of it into savings because I'm gonna need a new furnace soon. But I decided to put the other $250 towards the Pi after having to bake the St Vincent a second time. Partially my fault because I realized low was only going up to 120 with...

350! What % of your collection is that? And how much did you wind up getting?

I think it makes it less likely they warp. But also doesn't matter as much now that I have a central AC.

Low tested at 135. Just threw in the St Vincent (red) and put a pillow on top. Thinking 45 mins to an hour than leave it over night? Some of you know that back in 2018, a 118 degree (3 day) heat wave in LA warped about 1/4th of my collection. It also basically halted my collecting to a crawl...

Would you still do a pillow on a red vinyl with medium... instead of just cooking on low?

Very tempting. Does it give you a guide for color? Or have people figured that out in the two years I've been absent from this thread?

Have you had it fuck your shit up or is precise enough that you trust it regardless of vinyl color / thickness. I have had some bad luck with colored wax and agree with some of the above comments that dished records are fucking really hard to get rid of.

With warps being the norm, I'm about to pull my vinyl flat out and put in some work. Hopefully the key words work as I remember red being a tricky thing to cook. But also, my "oven" is on the old side. Have the improved the tech enough to justify buying a new one? Mine cooks uneven and temps...

If a CEO made a similar move, they would be sued by shareholders for not evening trying to maximize profits and, in a different era, the company would be investigated by the the government.

    The NBA Thread

I'm done with the NBA when Jokic retires. I adore this sport, but you cannot convince me that Niko is not a Silver plant. Dude has handed Brunson to NY and Luka to the fucking Lakers. You might be able to make a very bad argument in favor of trading Luka. But there is ZERO logic to trading him...

Yeah, I'm basically there with you. It's fucking batty that they charge 30$ a pop (or even $40) and still haven't fixed the fucking quality control. I shouldn't have to experiment with baking shit or fuck over local record stores to ensure I have a flat record.

Well I see that QC hasn't stabilized even years removed from the pandemic. I have bought 4 records in 2025 after pausing for all of 2024. 3/4 of them have been some form of warped or dished.

Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I was just looking at their website and don't see that option. But it says they are 1/8th an inch which seems close enough to the 3mm that the stock rubberr mats (according to Google) are that I wouldn't need to change the VTA. Sound right to you? Also, pretty sure my table is a 1500 after some...

Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Anyone with a Technics 1200 upgrade to an acrylic mat? The winter's in Chicago cause mad static problems and I've read they can help. But I'm worried about making sure it's thin enough that it doesn't fuck up my vertical tracking.

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Thank you sir. You're always reliable for good info. I sifted through their FAQs and didn't see anything about cleaning the Guru itself.

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

So-- I took like a year hiatus from spinning records after my tonearm got knocked into at a pregame for a concert. Everything is back up and running after a move-- however, while packing for the move, I realized I had left water in the Guru container for that entire timeframe. Maybe been in...

    Vinyl Storage Recommendation

Poor explanation on my part. Each shelf is 27" long x 4 with no dividers in there. So I guess what I'm saying is that they are a touch smaller than a Kallax but when you combine the two of them, it's way more space even though two of them = 8 shelves. The two shelves, side by side, take up 54"...
