My solution is not very pretty, but it works pretty well to keep out critters. Plus once the tomato plants get tall enough, they poke out the top with the cage acting as a sort of trellis. Probably not a solution for a larger garden, though.

Empress Gin martini. It is pH sensitive, so normally it is purple, but when acid (like lemon juice) is added, it turns more pink and delicious.
