She just found a recipe in magazine for chicken and mushroom pot pie but we looked through the ingredients and there are no potatoes on the list. I wish I could fully convey how hilarious this all is.
This is all only really funny because my mom is an amazing cook and her passion and hobby is trying out new recipes. She’s now remembering who she had over for dinner that night and seems to think maybe it was a different recipe that she used that called for the potatoes to be in the pot pies.
And now she’s quizzing my dad about it because he had one tonight which also clearly was filled with mashed potatoes (we’re talking like, the main ingredient here is mashed potatoes in these pies). And he has no memory of whether the pies at the original dinner also had mashed potatoes in them.
There were also mushrooms in them which is normal but oddly, the recipe doesn’t mention mushrooms either and my mom also doesn’t remember putting mushrooms in them. Lol. It’s only funny because this is turning into a mystery that my mom is determined to solve lol.
It’s just funny because apparently neither of my parents remember eating them that way and my mom is trying to figure out if maybe she only put the potatoes into a few of them and maybe the ones she served before didn’t have potatoes.
She then goes to get the book that has the recipe to show me that there are no mashed potatoes in the chicken pot pie recipe that she made. The recipe calls for mashed potatoes “served separately”. We’re all still trying to figure out how no one at that initial dinner commented about the...
Agreed. My mom apparently made all these chicken pot pies for some dinner a few weeks ago (I wasn’t there) and froze the leftover pies. She served one to me tonight. I commented about the mashed potatoes and she gave me a confused look and said “no, it’s a chicken pot pie, it doesn’t have...
Glad that you enjoyed it! It looks like it’s being made into a film with Cillian Murphy as the father, and also starring Ciarán Hinds and Emily Watson. It might be the rare film that doesn’t have to leave anything out from the source material, haha.

10/7 - Miya Folick @ The Atlantis - fun show. She sounded great and seemed to be having fun. There was a lovably awkward moment when someone in the crowd made a joke about smoking a joint and she was like “oh, I could never do that - are you serious?” She closed her set by covering...
