This album has never been one of my favorite hip hop albums but I do admire that it sounds a little different than most stuff coming out at the time. "Tennessee" is probably one of my favorite 90's songs though.
I'm amazed and how many bland, arena rock songs there are that I didn't realize were Def Leppard. This album is like the Joshua Tree of boring 80's hair metal.
Oddly enough I found the songs towards the end of the album more enjoyable than the first part. Maybe I need to check out some of the prior albums. The Related Artists were a lot of 90's alternative and post-grunge bands. I didn't get that vibe at all from this album.
This album had it's moments but overall I found the vocals pretty irritating. Kind of sounds likes a mix of Paramour, Muse and Ours.
Their All Music Similar Artists section lists a lot of bands that I like (Including Manic Street Preachers!), so maybe this just isn't a good entry point?
I remember First of the Gang to die too but I feel like that didn't get as played as much on the radio over here.
He was actually booked on Lollapalooza when this came out which at the time was scheduled to be a tour with 2 days in each city, but the whole tour ultimately got canceled. He...
I remember really liking "Irish Blood English Heart" when this came out. I can't remember if I ever actually listened to the full album before but listening to it today was pretty underwhelming.
I always like to watch these to see if I have any gear in common with some of my favorite bands. MMJ's stuff is too out there for my taste apparently. Jim James's amp is wild!
