Oh well. Never liked him, don't like his music, and now we will never have to bother with either again. All his future appearances have been cancelled. Best of luck to him when he gets out of the big house. It will be tough to get a job at Walmart now. Sick prick.

    A Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Thread

Bottom line - this is virtually certainly the end. Bruce will be 75-ish when this tour is over. Think he is going on an arena tour again at 77 or 78? Think again. Not to mention, Max has had a triple bypass, Nils has a hip and knee replacement, Gary has a fast growing bald spot, the Professor...

CD has for the last 25 years been highly compressed. Vinyl always will sound better as a separate vinyl master must be sent for the lacquer cutting, since vinyl can't use a brick wall master or it will be untrackable. Hence, the dynamic range of vinyl is in almost every case much higher than a...

Venus digital is the most highly compressed jazz on the planet. For what reason they do this, I don't know. The vinyl, by necessity, is somewhat backed off on the compressed loudness that the CD has. That is the difference you hear.

Thanks - never knew the Larry Ridley - now that you have put me on to it, it is just crazy good and I will join you in hoping for a reissue. The Discogs price is insane. Chad - it's not true he doesn't do 'out there' jazz, he does, in his mind. He thinks that a 1970's Louis Bellson record...

The 2 A&M records are amazing. Essential. Long Before Our Mothers Cried I would take first, but not by much.

Sounds good. Like I said, Tolliver and Cowell is easy. Probably the Billy Harper and a few others are easy as well. The GSH catalog was sold way long ago, so probably the tapes are well stored and easy to license. Remember, Strata East wasn't a typical label. The artists owned their tapes and...

It is hard to get Strata East tape boxes, as the label ethos was artist owned. Tolliver and Cowell I imagine are probably quite accessible, but many others are in the hands of (or estate of) the artists. In every case, rights remained with the artist, not the label. I would think an all-analog...

Never heard of it. Now that I have - solid pass. I have about 5000 records. Most of which I consider essential, of personal significance, or just great records. Probably a few stiffers as well. Why listen to a well forgotten record that never even burped for a minute before hitting the...

Been listening to it since yesterday. I disliked Gigaton major, but I am really liking this.

There's a reason why you can't give away a copy of the ORG Ole. Two good reasons, actually. 45 and mono. Both so, so wrong for Ole.

Honestly - stereo is virtually a must for Ole. Lots going on, the mono kinda mashes it all together.

I tend to agree. There have been some great films, but the majority of film investment is in dumbed-down CGI cartoons. It has seemed to me for some years now that in fact there is much more interesting TV being produced.

    a. in the 'audiophile world', the release generates the demand. The mastering engineer, the exclusivity, the cover type, the numbering, all the artifacts. Not the other way around. I doubt that anyone was calling Chad begging for Pablo. b. Chad has tons of experience selling records. He is a...
