New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Anybody clean old styrene 45's in the 'guru? I've read elsewhere not to do so but I'm wondering if a single 2 1/2 minute wash cycle would do any harm.

I tend to wash in batches so I just mix up a gallon and go to it

    More like 13 (13.2 if we're being precise). G-Sonic calls for 10 drops to a gallon. 5 liters = 1.32 gallons.

I don't use the dry cycle either. After a wash I give a wipe with a damp microfiber and then a couple turns each side on my old Record Doctor. Another wipe with a dry micro then placed in a rack. Rack holds 10, when that's full records are sleeved/stored. Works for me

It's not super loose, parts are plastic after all so they give some if I push too hard (power connector is a bit snug). It's possible I did something when replacing the PCB last year, don't remember it being an issue before that. Works fine though. If it ain't broke...

With mine the power connection (on the unit) has a little give when connecting, in other words it feels like it isn't secured tightly to the machine. Pushing the connector in too hard seems to move it some resulting in loss of connection.

Not saying it's the answer, but pull the plug back from the machine just a touch, see if that helps. If I push mine in too far it doesn't connect properly, gets no power. Pulling back just a bit works just fine.

I premix, 10 drops to a gallon, works well.

I preheat with VF in pouch for 30 minutes. Leave in pouch during cool down; if I'm around I'll open the pouch but leave record in VF until cool to the touch, otherwise I just let it be.

I still use my Record Doctor in lieu of the HG dry cycle, just as effective and can batch clean in less time. Works for me.

10 drops of G-Sonic per gal. distilled. Noticeable difference.

First thing I tried but didn't work so new PCB it was. All good now. Glad it worked for you

Another poster (Matt M) had this issue, the cog motor needed replacement. See this post: #2,289 , search thread for his other posts for more background.

You're welcome, and thanks to all who posted prior. Mine doesn't make the high-pitched whine either, prior to repair it was infrequent. Thought about contacting HG, but after multiple cleans the unit is working fine. Glad you got yours working again

I just went through the same issue, contacted poster folsom_lives as he posted the same issues earlier in the thread. Send an email to HG, they will respond (keep in mind the 12 hour difference, their business hours are M-F 10am-6pm their time). They sent me a new PCB and instructions, fairly...

Did a test when I first purchased, Low - 135°F, Med - 150°F, High - 179°F. All with empty pouch. Subsequent tests including VF averaged around 140°F for Medium setting. Haven't checked since. Been some time since I've used. Picked up a couple crates a while back, anticipate I'll be firing...

After a number of trials the sweet spot for me is 3 hrs @ medium heat, 30 minutes for warmup (VF in pouch) then 2.5 hrs loaded (full felt ring). Warp towards the fold of pouch. Knocked out every edge warp. I don't use the washer/wingnut when heating. Forgot to use it once and found it worked...
