Day 13: Tash Sultana October 2019, Ohana Festival – As opposed to The Strokes, Tash played a mellow yet spectacular sunset set. Just her looping various instruments creating a great collage. Was wholly unfamiliar with her before, but have made it a point to see her every time since. Play...

Had a friend recommend The Old Man and really enjoyed it. But kinda grumpy with them over the recommendation of a show that isn't going to have a finish! Unfortunate they couldn't get a third season or at least a couple episodes to tie it up.

We were 2 rows from the top, and I wouldn't do that again. Spouse had to close her eyes a few times as it was just too steep. I don't think I'd go again if not 100 or 200 level. To me, the sound was what made it so great.

Day 12: The Strokes October 2019, Ohana Festival – This was probably the only time I felt like the crowd was out of control at a show. The rush of people to the stage when the Strokes hit the stage was like a wave, honestly a pretty scary feeling. Play something by an artist with rabid fans...

Day 11: Steely Dan May 2022, North Island Amphitheater – This was not a good concert, definitely felt like Donald Fagen was phoning it in. Glad to say I saw them (even if it was post-Walter Becker) is about the best I can say about this show. Play something by an artist who had a release that...

Day 10: Simon & Garfunkel November 2023, Cox Arena – A wholly unexpected reunion tour that was fantastic. Play something by a band that has disbanded, bonus points if they did a reunion tour. The Replacements - Pleased To Meet Me That reunion show was amazing

Day 9: The Cure May 2023, North Island Amphitheater – They kept it real on the last tour, keeping prices down for both tickets and merch, and putting on a spectacular set. Play something by a band that has kept the fans in mind. Elvis Costello - This Years Model Elvis had audience members up...

Day 8: P!nk / Brandi Carlile October 2023, Snapdragon Stadium – P!nk (like Brandi) really connects with her audience and puts on quite a theatrical show, flying around the arena at the end of the show. Play something over the top. King Tuff - Black Moon Spell

Day 7: Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers October 2019, The Magnolia – Bruce was touring for Absolute Zero, which featured Justin Vernon. Bruce was super grumpy with the folks that were calling out for Grateful Dead tunes, said he wasn’t going to play any and also stated that he thought that nobody...

Day 6: Rolling Stones February 2003, Staples Center – I’ve seen the Stones 2x, both for free. The first time was at the LA Coliseum when I worked security and got to stand right by the stage, and the second was this benefit for the NRDC, and was the first free show they played since Altamont...

Day 5: Social Distortion February 2001, 4th and B – This was the first time I saw Social Distortion after the death of founding member Dennis Dannell from a brain aneurysm at the way too young age of 38. Play something from a band with shifting lineups or that continued on after a founding...

Day 4: Prairie Home Companion November 1997, Fitzgerald Theater – Went to two Prairie Home Companion tapings when I lived in Minneapolis. Day 3: The Samples, early 1990s at The Barn UC Riverside – Booked them to play the bar I worked at, my now-wife and I had so much fun that we followed them to Vegas the next day. They were big for a bit, and flamed out into varying resurrected iterations. Play an album from a band that has faded...
