I feel that the Super Heavyweight made an improvement on my StudioDeck. Of course slight, it is often the sum of the small improvement. Considering the cost, it isn't just milled into it's shape (Or however it is made). It also gets milled, to hollow it out to be filled by the magical sauce...

I own the Super Heavyweight, and it is good looking I must say. It isn't just a block of aluminium, it does have a Polymer/rubber on the inside which is supposed to improve the sound. As mentioned, dissipate noise from the record. I think that can make sense since it is sitting over the bearing...

Yes, it was Ebay. I should have mentioned that. I think it was you Kvetcha who gave me the tip.

What you may need is a shim on your cartridge. I had the same issue with the height of the arm and getting it parallel. I got a shim made out of carbon, about 2,8mm tall. That gave me the space to do the necessary adjustments. I don't know where to get one in the States though since I live in...

Yes, one would think at that price. If you buy them as a bundle, they have similar price as the AT's. Just thinking out loud. Not that they hook you with a normal price, and when you need a new cartridge you pay premium. The first shot is free.

Has anyone had the chance to hear the StudioSilver MC cartridge? I am rather curious about this one. It seems there have only been a few who have the UltraGold. The gist online is that they are based on the AT-OC9XMl and the At-OC9XSL. The Mofi cartridges do seem to be costly in comparison, if...

I use index cards, which I put under the protruding arm where the lift is attached. If you push them under there, the tone arm can't fall down when loosening the hex screw. To lower, remove a card or more. To raise, lift the arm and place more cards. You can do a fine adjustment since the cards...

I have a Dual 1246. I got it about 18 years ago. It arrived in an oversized box without any padding. It was seriously beat up, and with a lot of work, I got it playing nicely. After a time, too many things were not working anymore, and it was becoming a pain in the toosh. So that is when I got...

These tables do seem to have their little issues don't they, like little Divas. My lifter also started to leak oil after about a year. I cleaned it up, and ignore it. The arm still sinks down nicely, and as long as that works I am good.

When I got my StudioDeck I was told to put the platter on and leave it settle for a few hours to sink down on its bed. I of course feeling like a child at Christmas couldn't wait and started playing a record immediately. After listening to music for about 5 min. the platter totally stopped. That...

I was under the impression they have a low compliance.

How are they a mismatch? Do you mean compliance wise?

Unfortunately not, :) ,I was thinking of cutting a shim out of a 2mm aluminium sheet. Just concerned about the weight because of the heavy arm, and possible resonance issues.

If I raise it and set it down on the record the Vta will be wrong. You can't really see it in the photo (the top one), it is parallel, but just. Here another photo, (feeling like a thread spammer).

Thanks for your imput AnthonyI. Here another photo. Sorry for the bad quality. It is difficult to see, but the cue piston is resting on the base of the turntable.

Yes there is an Allen screw, and I have loosened it and the cueing platform is as low as it goes. I got the arm parallel it should be okay. But if I wanted to have the back down there isn't enough play. There is a hair of space now between the cueing platform and the arm. If I wanted to go...

Maybe I am expressing myself badly. Taking a photo now is too difficult, maybe tomorrow if I find time. What happened was, I changed my tracking force, and as a good turntable owner I checked to see if the arm was parallel. It was a bit high on the back, where the pivot is. So I lowered it...
