    Waxwing Phono Preamplifier Thread

I use the stock low and high pass. I have played with the various EQ settings but usually leave them off. Magic gets used for my rare "scratchy" record. One has to decide whether to "play" with settings of just listen to music. External DAC I use only to get the volume levels close to my...

That was the other choice besides the SA1.2 - which in part won because it was in stock and I was somewhat "impatient".

Everything you wanted to know in one place with references via hyperlinks. http://www.rothwellaudioproducts.co.uk/html/mc_step-up_transformers_explai.html I have used SUT’s previously and the gain, along with a RC network across the secondary to eliminate ringing, is the key to success. My...

The RFI associated with LED lights is power supply related. That can be remedied with a quiet power supply. The dimmer circuit needs special attention as well - since it works by PWM that varies the on-off duty cycle at a frequency not noticeable to our eyes. @kvetcha 's example of the "fancy...

"Get in the kitchen and make me some pie!" - Recipes & Cooking Thread

This morning’s scratch breakfast. Millet (instead of rice), ginger, garlic, carrots, onion, cayenne pepper, green beans, spinach, smoked chicken thighs, and avocado. Some of these recipes I make up are repeats - this one qualifies on first taste!

As much as I like the Hana, if I had to pick a deserted island cartridge - the VM95SH would be the pick. They are hard to tell apart and I enjoy the AT a little bit more. As a bonus, you can purchase 3 replacement needles with the savings over a new SL.

I own a Hana SL and have installed every other Hana - except for the ML - this includes the Blue and Red, on other folks tables. I would suggest you try an Audio Technica VM95SH before re-tipping or upgrading. A new one will set you back $199. While all the Hana’s are exceptional cartridges...

Yoshi - our 13 year old Japanese Chin - has left the building. We were blessed that our new Vet...

Turntable more expensive than the cart VS Cart more expensive than the turntable

A buddy of mine had that Goldfinger cartridge in use for 11 years. Then one fine day, he had the carpet cleaned. The next day it was observed the cantilever was missing..... It was replaced with a Hana Red at < 1/4 the price. When I mounted the Red I judged it as good or better than the...

That was a similarity that struck me at first glance. However, looking slightly closer reveals the only thing in common with the Sorane is the rectangular arm construction. Quite different in practice. The beauty of the Sorane is its arm mass adjustability. Want higher mass - use the 17 gram...

Get the Sorane! I put one on my Clearaudio Performance DC last December. Best thing I could have done to meet my needs.

I just purchased a Kiesel Craig Chaquico Signature model - they were running a Father’s Day weekend discount for “in stocks” and just happened to have one of these in stock. I have wanted one for years - have not figured out what combination of effects Chaquico uses for his New Age work yet...
