Tying in the Belafonte / Angelique-O clue, Melissa Laveaux has a song called Angeli-ko on her most recent album - Radyo Siwèl. I have no idea if any of this is related, but this album is cool as hell, so my time has been well spent!

The "Paris" connection is easy to make too because it may simply imply a French language connection to Quebec and Montreal.

Also, I'd like to point out that her new album (the 3rd in her trilogy on African American culture) is actually coming out Feb 11. Maybe @Colonel_Angus selected something fresh off the presses?

There are some amazing records on No Format! and I highly recommend (really strongly, both are beautiful albums) to give a listen to Ballaké Sissoko & Vincent Segal records Chamber Music and Musique de Nuit, Gonzales' Solo Piano Vol.1 (and 2 and 3 too but it's on another label), Koki Nakano ‎– Pre-Choreographed, Blick Bassy ‎– 1958, and many others. It's one of my favorite French label.
 
I feel like I have a personal stake in this AOTM since colonel solved mine. And now I want to have my revenge-- I mean, participate in this thread with all you lovely people.

Only problem is I'm horrible at solving things, so I fear i may not be much help.
