Needles & Grooves AotM /// Vol. 49 - July 2023 /// Elephant Gym - Dreams

I've been really stuck on Neptune/Poseidon for a bit, given the coordinates of the sea, the 🌊 painting (strangely pixelated like Japanese porn), the Dionysus clue and the fact that Pharrell is one half of The Neptunes production duo.
The fact that both sea coordinates are underwater museums / ruins made me think it was more than just the sea, but I've been known to jump to my own (very wrong) conclusions.

Apparently Joseph Dalton Hooker was one of Darwin's chief sounding boards as he worked through his theory on natural selection. Darwin's handwriting sure leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know Yann Tierson, or speak much french, but he has an album called La Phare (the lighthouse). Given the nautical/water themes, maybe a likely suspect?

Is Colonel_Angus a francophile? Between Melissa Laveaux and this (possibly) pick, that seems like it would've been relevant information!

Yann Tiersen is known for the soundtrack of Amelie. He has several albums/songs about the ocean (he is from Brittany, west of France). Le Phare is a possibility. It has been reissued again in 2020.

These are the three Darwin letters that are clues.

You're not kidding: the guy has a label called "Sine Terra Firma." Even I can read that.

I'm listening to M. Tiersen right now, and it's setting a great vibe for the workday. I have no idea if he's the answer, but finding great music is why I'm here, so mission accomplished!

Yann Tiersen has really great albums in many different genres. I knew him due to his soundtracks but then kept following him in his post-rock or neo-classical adventures. He never misses.
