I love vegan food.

But I don't really understand the need to replicate that many meat or dairy based products with a vegan version. I mean, I can understand some of them, like it's good to have something to insert into a hot-dog or a hamburger, but does that thing have to be named after their meaty counterpart absolutely ?

It's hard to coin A favourite cheese. Because I LOVE cheese.

Funny enough for a french man, I love cheddar, and particularly Snowdonia Port & Brandy Cheddar and Snowdonia Ginger Cheddar.

But also, goat cheese. All form of goat cheese. Blue goat cheese. Creamy goat cheese. EXTRA matured goat cheese. Gotta eat them all.

Like many of my early musical discoveries, I also owe this one to my mom, who clearly shaped an important part of my tastes. Before I turned to metal like all reasonable teenagers do, of course.

Nonetheless this band appeared in my life with my mom listening to this record on cassette during long drives, but it stumbled upon the band again later in life, while at the uni, because the best of was ubiquitous to a lot of my friends CD collections, so much, that I probably most of the time expect the tracklist of that best of when listening of one of the original records. And of course, Manu Chao released his solo records around the same time, and it was everywhere in France, you couldn't turn on the radio without stumbling on "Clandestino" or "Je ne t'aime plus".

They recently reissued the whole Mano Negra discography and they are amazing, among the best sounding records of my collection, LOUD but clear, energetic up to 11. It's part punk, part rock, part chanson, all amazing.

I didn't pick them as the AotM, even if it would have forced @Skalap to convert his whole CD collection onto vinyl, because I didn't want to pick another white dudes band. But one thing I kept in mind was the multilingual side of Mano Negra, they never cared, they sung in spanish, french, english or even in arab (Sidhi Hbibi, a real banger).

However if you're not familiar with this band you should really dive into it, in my opinion the first two records are the best, but there are gems in every record they released.

So wholemeal bread = substantial
Goats cheese = smooth but with a fair bit of sharpness
Fig jam = counter balancing sweet notes

with the added social conscious...

If it was 20th century I’d have been going What’s Going On but with it being 21st 🤔🤔🤔
 
I would be very surprised if it were this, but that write up made this pop into my head:

Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike

Wow, just learned Steve Albini recorded some songs for that album. Dude pops up in some unexpected places.

Edit:Guess I should expand, not sure how to fit most of the clues, but it fits multi-lingual and multi-genre and probably political as well. Also fits the <10 times mentioned clue.

If you haven't heard of them and Gypsy Punk sounds like an intruiging genre to you, check them out. Super fun band.

I’m more familiar with Super Taranta, but it’s a fun band to listen to ! They also popped up a bit in the party playlists from my uni years. :)
