Oda wood panel speakers + live performance subscription

Have any of you heard of this? If not, read their FAQ. It's essentially a $300 pair of wood panel speakers that only really work with their proprietary live content.
Am I the only one who thinks this is somewhat absurd?
Somewhat absurd? This is a hard pass for me.

It'll be fun when the company goes out of business and there's no more proprietary content to play and you're left with two ugly plain blocks of wood.

Right. They essentially say "yes, you can stream your own music through these, but it probably won't sound very good."

I am intrigued by the whole deal, but it also seems very impractical and likely short-lived.

What they are doing is applying equalization to their material to make their speakers sound good. Bose did the same thing- they handed out specially equalized demo discs that favored their speakers.
