Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I like all of these, but...how many Soul Jazz albums does one need? These all seem like they are an 8/10 musically, so very good, but not transcendent. Why would I play one of these over the other Idris Muhammad album I have, or Jimmy Smith, or Charles Kynard, or some of the other Jazz Dispensary albums I have. I can't believe I'm typing this, but it kinda feel like I've reached my saturation point on the genre.

Concord isn't gonna give VMP the best of the best as exclusives IMO. But if you like any of these titles, most of them haven't had reissues in 30+ years. I kinda like that they are lesser known titles.

Saw this on Reddit thought I'd share

$45 member price $50 non members price
Stupid expensive for these.

As someone attempting to cull about 100 albums from my collection I can really feel this. I get dropping $50 on one of these albums if they are a favorite but these types of albums used to be stuff you pick up for like $5 from the used record bin at your local on a whim because they had a cool cover and then were pleasantly surprised by the funkiness of the grooves. I’d rather dedicate the $50 (and the space) towards something spin a little more often.

That being said, I am completely unfamiliar with these titles and I will download/stream these titles for sure. I appreciate the curation just not enough to purchase any more while still have like 20+ similar titles sitting on my record shelf.

We should have a game where members here are played a track from one of the 20 Tone Poets they bought this year and see if they can even name the album it's on
