I can think of a couple of reasons. There are 45 collectors (like me), but also, if it had been $8, I might have taken a flyer on it because the album was too much for me which is why I didn’t get it.Why is this need since the ROTM included both of these songs?
Ye,s but those are indie labels. $15 is a standard price for a major label 7"It’s not and don’t let people make you think it is. Daptone, Big Crown and Colemine probably out out more 45s than everyone else combined and they are around $9 almost all the time.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is absolutely no reason for major label stuff to cost more (other than capitalism)Ye,s but those are indie labels. $15 is a standard price for a major label 7"

And again he said, par and it’s not par.
Not that I really want to delve into political and economic theory in the VMP threads, but no capitalism is industry and trade being controlled privately for profit. The market will bear what that profit may look like and this would be a high profit offering. If anything capitalism says they should be less because the larger volume means the costs are less. We’ve got to stop equating unregulated gangsterism and exploitation with capitalism.

I have never once seen a definition of capitalism that includes “for the good of society.” It is what would like but is ultimately why it is an economic system destined to fail. For the good of society is the line missing and gross overpricing to make a quick buck is not for the good of society. Capitalism fails as an ideology when it serves only the needs of a few at the top. There has been no capitalism is generations because we encourage monopolies, rather than deconstruct them, and concentrate all of the money at the top.
Or you buy from your local and don’t pay shipping. But then you add shipping and suddenly you’re around $12-$15.

My locals then mark them up to $12-$15. :/
I’m not defending any of it, but I don’t think it’s (just) VMP being greedy capitalists. They all are.
VMP also has investors with deep pockets. As do labels.Your local has overheads that VMP doesn’t. For a D2C outfit they’re consistently way more expensive than any local I use and I live in a very expensive city in a country with a high level of VAT.
Not really? Back when I started collecting in 2006 my first two new LPs (Band of Horses and Sufjan Stevens respectively) were like $18 and $22 respectively still cheap but not $15 cheap. For me $15 for a new record always felt like a good deal.remember when 15 bucks was the cost of an average single LP
ok yeah that was a bit too liberal but i miss the 20 dollar vinylNot really? I mean I remember when they were like 8 bucks and cassettes were like 10 or 12 and a cd would be between 15 and 20. This was around the same time that a new VHS would run you like $60.remember when 15 bucks was the cost of an average single LP
