Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

You don’t think Cam, Storfinhofner and the rest are all sitting there in some kind of Minority Report viewing room just waiting for someone from discord to leak that they’re churning out some more Nilsson so they can send Tom Cruise over to fuck some shit up?

Or you just don’t want to believe it?

I probably shouldn't freak out, storf doesn't even see this forum and I'm mostly just more a paranoid thinker (I'm one of those safe conspiracy theorists)... I have leaked a few things on this forum before and never got in any trouble..

Like for example hip hop Q3 is definitely big doe rehab and probably too shorts blow the whistle and we're probably getting a def jam anthology.. but I more always think someone's watching me and is ready to shame me

If anything they're happy you share. They want to build hype

all the VMP young thugs are.
I had a question about that; wasn’t Jeffery s VMP exclusive limited to 2000 copies?

This is another example of them promising something and VMP changing the rules as they go along, no?

Have they addressed this? or is this a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ caveat emptor type situation where it’s the consumer’s fault for trusting a corporations when there is money left on the table?

It would only really be a problem if….

It’s the same colorway and original run wasn’t numbered.

i haven't been following it a ton, but i believe they are doing an unnumbered pressing (different color too?) that will be pressed to order with a 10 day window. i personally don't care about it--always think it's better to have more people be able to have access to the albums on vinyl if they want it. the few times something like that has bothered me was in something like the case of Asthmatic Kitty doing a limited to 500, then immediately after selling out doing the same colorway as an open pre-order.

I feel like back in the day they claimed to be bit more stringent regarding represses of numbered exclusives. That being said, I never trusted their claims to begin with and really don’t care that much personally. Just like to point out moments of hypocrisy.

I never cared for the value and exclusivity on vinyl... I mostly buy because I like listening to music on vinyl and the more people can get it the better, but I get many people would be pissed about this

Also storf is planning on redoing the infamous.. maybe as a redemption thing, maybe as its own rotm

I know people will get angry

It makes sense but is also hypocritical just a reminder that this is a company selling a product and not a trustworthy buddy.

Redemption? I don’t know the story here.

Is that the one they sent a case of it to like six people and everyone else was shorted?
yea it was when the system somehow squared the number of orders you placed (if you bought 2 you got 4, 4 you got 16, etc.). i think they gave test pressings to people who returned their duplicates.

somebody got 25 i think and then emailed VMP to say they would send 24 copies back if VMP hired them hah was probably enoch.

I’ve said it a million times, just change the color ways. Everyone is happy.
Or Just don’t sell things by flaming FOMO via manufactured scarcity using meaningless words such as “Exclusive” or “Limited” or “Numbered” and then they can press as many as they want in whatever color they desire without any issues at all.

There are labels that do this effectively without any issues.

This is also a valid way of doing business.

FOMO is their way though and if you just change the color way, you avoid all the other bs. It’s not like it is gonna cost different because you used the same colors as last time.

i will say, in some cases, artists will only let them press X amount of records, then reconsider later. that seems to be what happened with Young Thug at least. i don't think there's anything wrong with selling something limited/exclusive/etc as long as subsequent pressings are differentiated in some way.

I think they screwed that one up right off the bat anyway. As I recall, that one was supposed to be numbered, but wasn't, so they sold it twice, or offered replacements, or something.

Source: I somehow ended up with one of the non-numbered ones and gave it to @jaycee way back in the day.
VMP screw something up? HOW VERY DARE YOU?
