Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Is that the one they sent a case of it to like six people and everyone else was shorted?
yea it was when the system somehow squared the number of orders you placed (if you bought 2 you got 4, 4 you got 16, etc.). i think they gave test pressings to people who returned their duplicates.

somebody got 25 i think and then emailed VMP to say they would send 24 copies back if VMP hired them hah was probably enoch.

I’ve said it a million times, just change the color ways. Everyone is happy.
Or Just don’t sell things by flaming FOMO via manufactured scarcity using meaningless words such as “Exclusive” or “Limited” or “Numbered” and then they can press as many as they want in whatever color they desire without any issues at all.

There are labels that do this effectively without any issues.

This is also a valid way of doing business.

FOMO is their way though and if you just change the color way, you avoid all the other bs. It’s not like it is gonna cost different because you used the same colors as last time.

i will say, in some cases, artists will only let them press X amount of records, then reconsider later. that seems to be what happened with Young Thug at least. i don't think there's anything wrong with selling something limited/exclusive/etc as long as subsequent pressings are differentiated in some way.

I think they screwed that one up right off the bat anyway. As I recall, that one was supposed to be numbered, but wasn't, so they sold it twice, or offered replacements, or something.

Source: I somehow ended up with one of the non-numbered ones and gave it to @jaycee way back in the day.
VMP screw something up? HOW VERY DARE YOU?

i believe they put the replacement stock up for sale which was unnumbered.

Yeah, I am sure they are fine to take some blowback if it means they can make some more green.

Young Thug’s probably has a shit ton of legal bills to pay.

is a joke. theres the idea that you can't possibly post in both places.

in reality, i think nathan realizes he's already getting free records for life and might not even like records anymore so why post so enthusiastically about VMP?
He’s still pretty enthusiastic over there, but it has a hint of Slurms McKenzie, trying to hype up things beyond his actual enthusiasm.IMG_8145.gif

I feel like back in the day they claimed to be bit more stringent regarding represses of numbered exclusives. That being said, I never trusted their claims to begin with and really don’t care that much personally. Just like to point out moments of hypocrisy.

Yes and no. They would promise when it suited them and act like it’s not that big a deal when it didn’t. $65k used to be very vocal about someone buying something 33 seconds outside the month and swaps making it “not a real club”, one of the many reasons I always found him quite toxic.

I don’t think anything after ever lived up to the Saturday morning of bankruptcy where me, you, he and @Skalap bought all the expensive vinyl…

Best morning spent on a forum, by very far. Damn, I still own the ship I bought that day.

Back to NR, I have the same feeling as @Murfocakes. He always says how amazing is anything VMP does, no matter what they do. He probably still have a free subscription running. I didn't have any discussion with him for a while, even on Whatsapp when many of us shared our numbers to keep in touch in case the old forum was going down without notice. I am actually fine with it. He sent me a couple inappropriate messages at that time. I found them inappropriate at least.

Yeah he used to tread a very thin line with how he spoke to you and Lee on the old place, I think his sort of natural exuberance got him away with saying some things that other people might not have. He was for the most part though a good egg!

Yeah 99% of the time he was a good and active member. I was OK with the public things he was posting. Not so much with a couple he wrote privately. Anyway, he seems to have left this place for the Discord now.
